Hello,
I wanted to send along my thanks for your organizing of the icebreaker event today. I won’t lie, I was a little nervous about what to expect but I had a good time and I could tell everyone else did as well.
I hope you don’t mind, but while I was pulling you up in the fleet personnel records to send this I noticed you’re an Echometan, and being naturally curious I did some reading about your species as I’d never met one personally before. I also saw you’re an irreo and with me being an ever learning Xenolinguistics nerd, I was wondering if you would be willing to teach me your language. In exchange I could assist with your studies if you’d like.
I did a quick study of the Federation database from what was compiled around when the Echometa were being considered for membership. I managed to pick up a few words for a quick message that should be attached. Let me know how I did!

Attached to the message is a video file. Playing the video shows Weldon very slowly signing in the Irreo sign language, "You. Did. Great. Hosting. Lots. Of. Fun."

Dear ENS Edwards,
Your beginner sign language is pretty good, I don’t think you even need me as a teacher!
Seriously though, I don’t think I am really qualified to teach anyone anything. But we could meet if you want and I could at least go through the alphabet. And maybe give some context on the language itself if you feel that would be helpful? I’m doing okay in my studies, but I would love to pick your brain about being a new Ensign.

Dear CDT Willow,
That is very kind of you to say. I will admit it took me a fair few hours to get even there with enough confidence to not say something insulting on accident!
As for picking my brain, I believe that would be a fair exchange. I can’t say I’ll be able to offer much insight into an Ensign’s life as I’m still adjusting but I’m certainly willing to offer up what I have learned so far. And the offer stands if you need help with any studies in the future.
I certainly feel as if I have more free time as an Ensign than when I was a Cadet so I’ll leave the when and where to you so as not to interrupt your routine too much.
Cool, I will shoot you some time proposals on your calendar and you can accept the one that works for you. Have you been to Vanilla or Bust on station yet? I suggest we meet there!
I mean, unless you don’t like ice cream or if you’re lactose intolerant.
I can’t say that I’ve found my way there yet, but that sounds wonderful! Now that I think about it I’m pretty sure I haven’t had ice cream since I left Earth for my stop over in Andoria before coming to DS13 so it’s been awhile.
See you there!
