TRI’VOKIL REQUESTS STARFLEET TO OVERSEE REFERENDUM ON ASSOCIATION AGREEMENT WITH KHITOMER ALLIANCE
Knowing full well that Starfleet will not be able to maintain a presence in their star system indefinitely, the authorities of Tri’Vokil are preparing a referendum on association with the Romulan Republic. The move would effectively see the RRF assume responsibility of the Free State’s defenses. Further, the move, if it passes, would ensure that Tri’Vokil will eventually join the Romulan Republic and the greater alliance.
“We are thankful for Starfleet’s presence. But we know full well they cannot maintain a presence here forever. This move would effectively resolve our status.”
Rator III has swiftly condemned the move, stating that the referendum is non-binding since Tri’Vokil rightfully belongs to the Romulan Star Empire. Their threats, however, have been ignored, thanks in part to the recent successes the RRF has had against their forces. Still, should the referendum be enacted, it is expected the Star Empire will likely throw everything it has against Tri’Vokil.
Republic Intelligence and Starfleet Intelligence have also indicated the Star Empire is amassing warships near Rator III.
BREEN CONFEDERACY AND ROMULAN REPUBLIC CONTINUE DIPLOMATIC SPAT
Amidst indications that the Breen Military illegally interned a Romulan vessel, the Continuing Committee of the Romulan Senate summoned the Breen ambassador this morning. The move comes in light of the Breen refusing to release the captive Romulan merchants.
While the Senate has been demanding the RRF to respond according, the RRF appears to be approaching the matter carefully. This is likely due to the fact many high ranking members of the Military are Dominion War Veterans. Admiral Kererek, in a statement this morning, recalled the terrors unleashed by the Breen.
“The Breen Confederacy is a dangerous, isolationist foe that should be handled with care. We of course are determined to bring our people home. The honor of the Republic, as well as the lives of these citizens, is at stake. But any brash action will result in a conflict that will drag on if we are not careful.”
Rumors indicate that the newly formed 11th Expeditionary Flotilla has been sent to resolve the matter. When asked on how they were working to address the matter, Subadmiral Miral and Commander Nathes declined to comment.
BORG SIGHTINGS ON FRONTIER?
Reports of Borg sightings on the frontier have increased the past few weeks. Various mercantile ships as well as a number of far-flung colonies have reported seeing Borg energy signatures within local space.
While the RRF is committed to protecting its citizens from any and all Borg threats, the position of these colonies (well outside Republic borders) means that, unless there is concrete proof, the RRF cannot intervene. That being said, a member of RRF Command offered words of support for far-flung colonies.
“Should rumors be proven correct, the RRF will respond accordingly. But until there is concrete evidence, the RRF cannot devote resources to here-say and rumors. The situation on Tri’Vokil as well as the difficulties with the Breen Confederacy take priority.”
Despite the RRF’s response, the Continuing Committee of the Senate was reported to have conducted a closed-door meeting regarding the potential Borg threat. Further, despite the RRF’s response, there are indications Republic Intelligence has opened communications with its Starfleet counterparts regarding the matter. Whether these moves indicate anything conrete remains to be seen.
