To all concerned,
There was an incident yesterday involving a trader, one Seres Avlin, who arrived with exotic foodstuffs for sale. Amongst other items, she was attempting to sell a package of Athaxan sweets. While we know the Athaxan were a former member of the Azed Confederacy who were removed and subsequently exterminated some time ago, we have little information otherwise. Sublieutenant Aev and I questioned her at length, and it appears she both trades and salvages throughout the Doza and Kelterre sectors.
We reached a tentative agreement in which she would inform us of any finds beyond her capability to salvage, as well as sell us information she obtains through salvage or word of mouth. Starfleet is not exactly welcome in these areas, and our intelligence regarding the Itrin, Athax, and Junayd amongst others is sorely lacking.
This arrangement is partially contingent on our overlooking of her attempt to transport and sell a pair of vacuum exposed Irreo eggs on the station. While not explicitly illegal, they are a subject of contention to say the least and she was in the process of being detained when Sublieutenant Aev made the connection between the Athaxan sweets and the Confederacy.
I agreed to overlook the egg incident and have not filed an official security report, as bringing station security into this matter is an unnecessary complication. However, there were several other individuals present who seemed upset by the eggs as well. If any of them should make an official report or complaint, I recommend that it be removed from the record. I believe the value of the intelligence she may provide far outweighs the cost of overlooking this minor offense.
