Captain,
I trust that you're aware of recent events in the sector, including a significant increase in tensions and diplomatic incidents with Echomet and the nearly simultaneous secession of two other worlds from the Federation. I'm well aware that correlation does not imply causation; however, I'm also aware of a Terran saying regarding coincidence and enemy action. It's my hypothesis that some or all of these events may be the result of party or parties unknown acting covertly with the intent to destabilize this region and/or reduce Federation influence therein.
Should Command and/or Starfleet Intelligence decide to pursue this theory, I wish to formally request that the resources of myself, my ship and my crew be made available to that investigation, in any capacity that they may be useful or required.
