Subj: Kobayashi Maru Test Request

Good Day Ma’am,

I apologize for the intrusion in your inbox on a weekend. I have given this a lot of thought and I respectfully request to take a graded Kobayashi Maru test. I have studied, (as much as one can study for the supposed no-win scenario that no one can talk about), and practiced in various training scenarios. While I enjoy being your chief of security and hope to continue to do so, I feel I may become stagnant in this position and want to branch out for more responsibility (trust me, I’m shocked and disgusted with myself too.).

So yeah, I guess that’s it.

Sorry for the rambling.

Sorry for saying sorry.

Sorry for that too.

Lieutenant,

That shouldn’t be a problem. Of course we encourage all officers on this ship to challenge themselves, and grow as officers. The test can be frustrating, but it is often enlightening.

I certainly hope you aren’t going anywhere soon, but being prepared for the future of your career is always a good plan. You are approved.
