Subj: Squadron Proposal and Reform ideas

Greetings, Admiral and Captain,

Whilst going through documents the Captain had left either unfinished or unsent, I stumbled over this proposal for both a new Squadron that is focused on Exploration and Medical response efforts, as well as changes to help with the current Squadrons, and after checking a few details with Commander Sh’ow, who seems to have had a hand in writing this, I got approval to send this over in the Captain’s absense. This seemed timely given the new exploration goals of the fleet.

Please find the Captain’s idea below.

Admiral,

Following the brief mention I made to you about a squadron idea, Commander Sh’ow and I jointly came up with the idea for a long-range exploration and Medical Squadron, as well as some notes for possible reforms to the current squads to help with direction.

New Squadron Idea

I will first begin with the idea for the new squadron. This idea is for a Squadron we have come to suggest the name Asclepius, which would focus on long-range exploration of areas that are both in the 38th Fleet’s operational area, to new, unexplored sectors as we find them.

This squad would fit with my idea for squadron reform, be deployed around a main squadron leader vessel. In the example, I would suggest a large super Capital class vessel, for example, a member of the Odyssey Class family, a Jupiter Class or another Dreadnought or Large vessel. Whilst I am not normally one to put my name forward, if this squad were to be deployed and needed a lead Vessel, given the more scientific and fleet-leading focus of the Defender when compared to other vessels of its class, it could step into this role.

The Squadron would take the role of leading Starfleet into the unknown, with it helping other long-range, science vessels, cruisers and escorts to map out new sectors of space, as well as provide detailed reports back to Starfleet, with the lead vessel acting as a communication point in addition to a mobile base of operations for other ships.

This squadron would deploy to a system, and would have other science vessels for example an intrepid class, as well as other ships heading deeper into the system to survey and map other planetary bodies, with the squadron’s lead vessel helping map out the first plantary body in the system, then acting as a command point, helping direct squadron resources to map the system in the best time possible efficently, as well as acting as a back-up for all data and information collected, complying a full report that can then be sent back to command, in one fully formed data stream.

Whilst I understand most of this is a simple and rough draft for a squadron idea, I felt presenting my ideas would be useful to help with the general restructuring and reorganisation of the fleet, to best support future efforts going forward, into a hopefully more peaceful exploration-filled future.

Squadron Reform idea

Whilst my idea for squadron reform itself is much simpler, with the idea focusing on refocusing squad efforts, with each squadron being given an area of responsibility, be it for patrols, exploration, supply runs or any mission the ships may need to undertake, with the Squardon leads having regular meetings with both each other and command to help update everyone on the state of current efforts.

For example, Cetratus Squadron could be assigned to explore a part of space that has barely been touched, with its ships helping lead the way for missions in the area, and reporting into the Squadron lead anything major for it to then be fed back to Command.

Whilst this idea would see each Squadron have a primary area of responsibility, for example, Command could assign Cetratus Squadron to the Itrin Sector, and whilst this would be to help focus squadron efforts, if support was needed by other squadrons or in other sectors, there would be nothing to stop ships of Cetratus from redeploying as needed in support.

In closing I understand both the above ideas will come across as rough and lacking polish in areas, however my aim with this message was more to get the ball rolling on an idea that could help spearhead a new focus on exploration and humanitarian aid for the fleet, refocusing ourselves away from the conflict and military like nature we have all sadly become all too familiar with recently.

End of Captain H, Sh’ow’s letter

Admiral and Captain,

Whilst the Captain is currently unable to respond to questions given his medical state, Commander Kas and I, as well as other members of the Defender crew, can do our best to fill in any blanks we can, as we have yet to be updated about the Captain’s state, apart from being asked to help consult with on site security following some recent issues.

OOC @Sam sorry this took so long, I ended up getting distracted, you know Cat, laser pointer things happen lol this is just putting an IC spin on the idea Sejea had, with me putting an IC twist on it and expanding on it, as mentioned very briefly in character also, really sorry I had a picture to go along with my explaination but I lost access to it and I didn’t want to hold off any longer.
