U.S.S. Compassion
Launched in 2345 the USS Compassion (NCC - 58778) was conceptualized by starfleet command as an hospital ship from the very beginning. To this end she was equipped with state of the art medical facilities for all of her service life up until now. She was usually assinged to humanitarian missions and disaster relief efforts wherever and whenever starfleet required it.
The compassion served with distinction in her role during her service years leading up to the dominion war. Altough frontline duties were not part of its intended mission profile the Compassion was participating in active combat actions as part of the 10th fleet during the war.
The vessel was nearto criticly damaged during the fleets failed defense of Betazed from invading dominion forces and was forced to remain in drydock for the remainder of the conflict. After its spaceworthyness was restored she returned to her old duties and initially saw action in areas afflicted by the aftermath of the war. It remained continually in service until 2424 when it was reassigned and permanently attached to the 38th Fleet “Argo”.
