USS Midway (NCC-90133-B) is a Valdres class starship, operating within Starfleet. She is the second ship of her class commissioned and the second Starfleet ship to bear the name.
She was named for the old Earth vessel, USS Midway, an aircraft carrier bearing the namesake of the Midway class aircraft carrier, the oldest serving of its kind in the United States Navy.
History
There is little to no history of the current namesake of the USS Midway. The ship has recently been commissioned to replace the Midway A, an aging Akira class starship. Midway underwent its standard shakedown cruise prior to being assigned to the 38th Fleet. USS Midway was launched simultaneously with USS Valdres, and is the second Valdres class vessel commissioned by Starfleet.
Commissioning
The USS Midway was launched on stardate 97872.6 at Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards, Mars, Sector 001, Sol System.

The USS Midway is a standard layout Valdres class Starship. A technological upgrade from the Norway class, the ship features more automated systems, allowing for a smaller crew. This reduction in crew space needs has allowed for a larger series of hangar bays, to allow the Midway to carry a single fighter squadron in her four hangar bays underneath the “saucer” section of the ship. Support craft and shuttles are kept in smaller support hangar bays, while the two main hangars hold half of the fighter squadron each. The Midway’s main two hangars also house a newly researched electromagnetic catapult system to facilitate faster fighter launch, ceiling racks for fighter storage, and micro-tractor beam arrays to allow for faster ship recovery during fighter operations.
The Midway’s fifteen decks are similar in layout to the older Norway Class vessel, with some moderate differences. The Midway takes advantage of a standard mess hall, with kitchen and food preparation area (to include staff). This space replaces the area where holodeck two would be on a Norway Class. In addition, this mess hall area has been used for a small recreation area that includes a pool table.
In addition, the deck above the hangar deck is dedicated to housing the ship’s embarked Valkyrie pilots, their support staff, command office, and equipment storage.
Systems
The USS Midway’s torpedo launchers can hold a variety of torpedo types. These include photon, quantum, and depending on mission, tricobalt torpedoes. The Midway has been updated to feature an auto-loading torpedo system, allowing for rapid sequential fire, similar to the Akira-class starships.
The USS Midway’s sensor system includes a standard sensor array and targeting sensors, as well as scanning sensors.
The USS Midway’s shields are standard for her size and class.
Auxiliary Craft
The USS Midway carries:
- 12 Valkyrie class fighters and four in reserve that require assembly
- 2 Runabouts (Devraux and Angel)
- 2 Type 10 Shuttlepods (Oslo and Stavanger)
- 2 Type 11 Shuttles (Bergen and Namsos)
- 2 Type 9 Shuttles (Drammen and Arendal)
The USS Midway’s Valkyrie fighter squadron is known as the 92nd Fighter Squadron “Nebula Angels”, of Starfleet’s 3rd Fighter Wing.
