| The U.S.S. Rasara is a Nova-class vessel completed in 2387 at Utopia Planitia Shipyards and designed to serve as a follow-up exploratory vessel offering a more detailed analysis of systems and planets after a more long range explorer, such as a Galaxy class, has passed through the system. The Rasara in particular was designed for the observation of pre or near warp civilisations and as well as the extensive sensor and research capabilities of her class has had a few labs converted to conference rooms in the event of first contact. Like all her class, and the variants, she is not designed for extensive combat, though she is capable of fending off most pirates and other commonly encountered threats in a stand up and protracted conflict she will not measure up. However, her sensor facilities do mean she can prove an excellent scout or advance warning vessel for any battlegroup and it is in this capacity that the Rasara has found herself most employed over the past 32 years of active service. Recently placed under the command of Commander Rixx the vessel has been transferred to the 38th Fleet and may finally find employment in its intended purpose, the vessel was also recently refitted and overhauled at Utopia Planitia before the assignment to the 38th Fleet. The shakedown run to the fleet has revealed several adjustments to be made to adapt the slightly older hull to the latest equipment, but its commander is a thorough individual and all necessary adjustments are proceeding on schedule at DS13. The crew, the captain, and indeed the ship itself all seem to take to heart the ship's motto: "... Tomorrow we shall set out upon the vast ocean." |  |
