Constructed in 2392 The USS Sunrise was one of the most advance and powerful vessels at the time. The assault cruiser was built with the primary focus of offensive and defensive missions and was constantly sent to Federation boarders to patrol and protect the Federation from any threats. Though towards the end of the 24th century the ships role was swapped to that of science implementing many new laboratories and exploring deep space for several years.
The ship was recalled from deep space on the eve of the Ionian war and quickly refitted with more powerful tactical systems. The Sunrise saw engagements in many major campaigns during the war and performed admirably. It's most notable battle was the battle of Sol where it joined the fleet in the protection of Earth Space dock, however as a result of this the ship was very badly damaged and took several months to repair damages.
In more recent years the Sovereign class recently underwent a refit to keep it up to date with newer vessels in terms of technology such as tactical and propulsion systems, and in the year 2418 the ship was passed from Captain Suzzane Jacobs due to her promotion to rear admiral and was passed to Captain Rose Hanson when she was promoted in 2418 and assigned to the 38th fleet.
