| The U.S.S. William D. Porter is an Armitage-class vessel that carries out its duties in the form of limited patrols in conflict-heavy areas. Recently built, the U.S.S. William D. Porter was laid and built at the Oakland shipyards before it's eventual launch in 2417. The William D. Porter, or Willie Dee as nicknamed by it's crew, encountered immediate engineering faults. Due to it's combat oriented role, the Willie Dee posseses a hanger bay fitted with peregrine-class attack fighters. Once broken from the moors of Oakland, the William D. Porter, encountered nearly immediate engineering faults. The warp engines had difficulty maintaining a warp bubble, impulse engines sputtered and quit. Shields were especially faulty. Near daily reports of difficulties or damage filtered back to the Admiral to which the William D. Porter was assigned, until finally, the Captain was personally contacted and ordered to reduce damage reports to once per week. Since then, the ship has experienced an unusual number of difficulties in their efforts of exploration and scientific endeavours, including a superstitiously high number of accidents. The Willie Dee is renowned for its stubborn tenacity to finish a mission, even if it ends up limping back to base. Her captain, Captain Percival "Percy" Standish, was previously in command of the Oakland shipyards, transferring to take command of the ship for her shakedown cruise after completion. Currently, exercises has the William D. Porter exploring the Klingon/Federation border. |
