U.S.S. Yamato: Backstory
The first U.S.S. Yamato was a Galaxy Class Starship that was launched in 2365 alongside the Galaxy and the Enterprise-D. The Yamato was destroyed by an Iconian Virus on Stardate 42609.1, while meeting the Enterprise-D.
The Yamato-A was launched in 2387, and was immediately sent to Hobus to assist in rescue efforts. The ship was attacked by Reman warbirds and forced to return to port. She was destroyed during a Klingon strike in the Pi Canis sector.
The latest Yamato, NX-985958, is a Mk II Dreadnought under the command of Captain Kurt Boyson. The ship is assigned to Task Force Argo and often launches pushback strikes in the Eta Eridani sector. At the moment, the ship is undergoing a weapon re-supply and retrofit, where the Mk X Quantum Torpedo’s will be removed and replaced with Mk XI Hargh’Peng Torpedo’s fore with rapid reload Mk XI Transphasic Torpedo’s aft, with several hundred torpedoes each. Cargo bay 3 also contains 250 Tricobalt launchers, in the event that Borg Transwarp Conduits need to be collapsed.
U.S.S. Yamato has numerous unit citations, including:
-The first citation was awarded for pushing several Borg ships out of the Beta Ursae sector. The citation was awarded by Fleet Admiral Quinn.
-The second citation was awarded for helping other Starfleet and Klingon Empire elements in securing Starbase 82. The citation was awarded by Admiral D’Vak.
-The third and final citation so far was awarded for assisting Romulan efforts in securing New Romulus from an invading Elachi fleet. The Yamato took on several attack wings, allowing the Romulan forces to destroy the command ship. The citation was awarded by Fleet Admiral Quinn, on behalf of the Romulan leader, D’Tan.
