Crewmates,
As most of you know we made a most curious rescue recently. We came upon a derelict space ship from Earth's past, that was about 390 years old, and on that ship we rescued one of the crew who had been in stasis for almost that whole time. Lieutenant Colonel Richard "Rip" Osbourne is awake and cognizant of his surroundings, but, and most of us here can related to this, is mourning the loss of his crewmates. Add to that, his temporal displacement, and I am sure you can understand that right now is not comfortable for him.
I mention all of this because in the next few days we will escorting him around the ship in an effort to get him “acclimated” as this was recommended by counseling. Now, I realize many of you will have questions, particularly those who are fascinated by the pre-war period of Earth’s history, BUT, we need also respect that LCOL Osbourne is dealing with a great emotional burden.
I am asking you that if you see LCOL Osbourne to be respectful, be courteous, and if need be, be helpful, but otherwise do not pepper him questions. Do not stare at him like he is an exhibit at a museum. Do not assume that because he comes to our time from the past that he is naïve or completely ignorant.
If he asks a question, answer it. If he initiates conversation, then engage respectfully and cheerfully.

Good Morning,
My sincerest apologies for the delay, attached is the bi-annual status report for the USS Gato.
To summarize:
All departments are either at or above standard.
Bi-weekly in-house trainings and exercises are being held to maintain the proficiency level of current crew and to train up new crew.
Monthly ship-wide exercises are held to maintain inter-departmental coordination.
A critical fault was detected in number 2 torpedo launcher which was promptly repaired by responding duty engineers within 24hours. Pending simulated and practical test-firing before certified as operational.
Ship’s company is healthy with no serious medical issues to be reported by the Senior Medical Officer.
Senior Engineering officer is filing official complaints that due to Callisto Flight 2’s replacing more and more Flight 1’s, more specialized components are becoming harder to replace, she is currently drafting a plan for rebuilding and refurbishing on-board spares as a means to combat a possible shortage in the supply chain. While she is prone to over-exaggerate a little, I do foresee this becoming a more serious issue in the next couple of years.
Two out of four replicators are down pending repair/replacement.
Seven security incidents were reported involving brawling and contraband. All persons responsible have been disciplined and a separate security report will be sent later to USS Hornet Chief Security Officer.
Due to several officers and crew either retiring and transferring off ship, I have had to re-organize the remaining crew to a two shift schedule from the previous four shift schedule until new arrivals can be trained up to fill in the gaps. I do not expect this to remain in effect for long.
This concludes the summery. I also wish to recommend Crewman Second Class Joseph Mc’Clennal for a commendation for discovering and leading the repair efforts of the critical fault that downed our number 2 torpedo launcher.

Thank you for the report and the summary. I appreciate the thoroughness. Regarding the number 2 torpedo launcher, once the simulated and practical test firings are complete, please forward the results. Was the fault isolated to a single component, or did the repair require more extensive work? I’d also like to know if the engineering team has identified any similar risks in the remaining launchers.
The concerns about specialized Callisto Flight 2 components and the temporary shift adjustments are noted. I’d like to discuss those further when convenient. I’d like to schedule a walkthrough of the Gato with you and your senior staff in the next few days, followed by a working lunch if that works for your schedule. It would be good to get a first hand look and hear any additional thoughts or possible concerns in person. Standing by for a time that suits.

Hornet Crew,
Before the rumor mill flies into overdrive, I wanted to be the first to announce, yes I am pregnant! It was a little unexpected but I look forward to this new chapter in my life and I look forward to bringing this little bundle of joy into this galaxy.
Some matters to take into account. I will be deferring all away missions to their appropriate departments and department heads. Naturally I will be present for any diplomat matters or I will delegate to Commander Warner when appropriate. Until I am further along, I will remain in command during combat operations and on the bridge and when the time comes, I will delegate those duties to Commander Warner as well.
Finally, I am opening up a naming competition! Please submit name ideas to me directly to take into consideration because quite frankly, I have NO CLUE! In the meantime, I really hope our galley team has studied up on some good things to eat because I hear Trill cravings are a nightmare!
