Subj: Our Accidental Visitor
Crewmates,
As most of you know we made a most curious rescue recently. We came upon a derelict space ship from Earth's past, that was about 390 years old, and on that ship we rescued one of the crew who had been in stasis for almost that whole time. Lieutenant Colonel Richard "Rip" Osbourne is awake and cognizant of his surroundings, but, and most of us here can related to this, is mourning the loss of his crewmates. Add to that, his temporal displacement, and I am sure you can understand that right now is not comfortable for him.
I mention all of this because in the next few days we will escorting him around the ship in an effort to get him “acclimated” as this was recommended by counseling. Now, I realize many of you will have questions, particularly those who are fascinated by the pre-war period of Earth’s history, BUT, we need also respect that LCOL Osbourne is dealing with a great emotional burden.
I am asking you that if you see LCOL Osbourne to be respectful, be courteous, and if need be, be helpful, but otherwise do not pepper him questions. Do not stare at him like he is an exhibit at a museum. Do not assume that because he comes to our time from the past that he is naïve or completely ignorant.
If he asks a question, answer it. If he initiates conversation, then engage respectfully and cheerfully.
