The USS Leyte Gulf is a Defiant-class tactical escort build in the early 2400s and comissioned in 2411, and boasts the most advanced systems capable of being carried by a ship of its size. These include modern incarnation of phaser cannons, fore and aft Quantum Torpedo launchers and a cloaking device, only to be used in wartime or when there’s an extreme need for the welfare of ship and crew.
These systems with the inclusion of a highly experienced command staff and crew has allowed the vessel to excel in combat situations, despite numerous close calls towards the vessel’s destruction. A combination of a high capacity shield grid and ablative armor has helped the ship survive what have would otherwise been devastating hits.
History
The USS Leyte was commissioned originally on Stardate 487263.9 (April 7, 2411) at the ASDB Integration Facility, of the Antares Fleet Yards, located in orbit of Antares IV. Assigned to the Command of Captain Steven DePoe the ship has served with distinction for nearly a decade in several conflicts including the Klingon War of 2304, the Iconian War, the Campaign against the Hur’q as well as several other smaller conflicts and continues to serve with distinction to this day.
