While talking to Davin, and Nimitz, about his Enterprise J ship, a question came up about the Vengeance. I was curious about it, when it first came out from the Lobi store. I looked it up, but there just does not seem to be a lot of information, other than what I found. If Anyone else has something to add to this thread, please contribute, as I would be curious to know what is on one of my favorite ships.

Maybe I'm too traditional, but I don't like the Vengeance. Really. I did my best to look at it from an objective point of view, but to me, it is simply the "veeeery big, dark, ship of villain". It is too big and too dark, honestly. Particularly considering that it should run with a skeleton crew: a smaller ship would've had much more sense.
Unfortunately, I don't have much more info than you do about it, but if someone can resolve this doubt of mine I'd be very grateful.

Well, clearly we aren't actually talking about use of this ship actually IC, Mirror Universe RP aside.
I believe what Trellain is asking about is if anyone knows details about this ship, like how it was designed, what kind of armaments it has, or just in general about it.
And there isn't really a lot known about it because the ship was basically designed to crash into San Francisco for the movie Into Darkness.

Perhaps you're right, Nimitz. The only way to understand more about it would to use some "IC logic", based on what we actually know...and see.
By the way, I understood what Trellain was asking. I was just asking one thing more XD I find it hard to imagine how the Vengeance was designed and put into construction, really.

well.. logically, this ship makes sense for the Kelvin timeline, we are talking about a timeline that got their butts handed to them by a Romulan ship enchanted with Borg tech from almost 150 years in the future, Vulcan was their Wolf-359. Much like what happened in the Prime timeline with Wolf 359, the Defiant was created by Captain Sisko to fight the Borg.

I understand the more militaristic attitude, don't get me wrong. What I don't understand is the design itself: the Defiant is a very good design for battle, with limited vulnerabilities (compared to other typical Starfleet designs), smaller, and more compact. Instead, the Vengeance takes the Constitution design and makes it simply bigger and darker.

Yes, it does take the Kelvin Connie and makes it bigger, because that was their logic, in the Kelvin timeline, the 09 Enterprise was not the first Connie to take the name, there was another one before, which was more normal Connie size, when the Kevlin was destroyed, they retired the First Connie class and basically made it a Super-Connie. (Count down to Darkness comics)
Also, Khan helped design the Veng, and for Khan, a Super Human that conquered the Earth in the 1990s, Bigger is better.

I didn't know that about the Connie. Thank you Nimitz!
By the way, I cannot believe a (super) intelligent man like Khan could really fall into that notorious trap (Bigger is Better). Not to talk about Admiral Marcus, who didn't say anything, evidently...

Well.. Khan has a super ego, the Khan we see in Into Darkness is basically the Khan from Space Seed, not Wrath of Khan, he didn't have 30 years of living on a dead planet to teach him how to be careful, he didn't see Kirk as his arch nemesis.

I hate the holes in the ship, and for an intelligence ship, it should be smaller, more nondescript I would think. As it is, Khan designed a battleship, that could operate with a crew of one if needed, and had the best of Federation weaponry.
I just like how out of all the ships I have, it is one of the few that still looks like a Federation ship, seems to be able to take the most damage, and still keeps going.
