Subj: Decennial Iconian War Memorial Service

Ten years have passed since the end of the Iconian War.

Though the universe has moved on, the impact of the war still lies fresh in our hearts. To memorialise this occasion, we will be holding a service at the station on Gamma Shift.

Everyone is invited to attend, including civilians and past serving members of Starfleet. Dress code is semi-formal attire, though Starfleet personnel may wish to wear dress uniform.

All commands will stand down non-essential operations for the duration of the ceremony.

There will be several events taking place on the station and ships in the lead-up to the event. I encourage everyone to attend these in memory of those who paid the ultimate sacrifice to protect our galaxy.

Regards,

Realised I didn’t actually tie this to a proper shift so edited to reflect that!

Scene

The fleet embassy has been transformed yet again for the memorial event. The lighting is low and sombre, creating an intimate, but respectful atmosphere. The walls have been dampened to deaden sounds of people talking, adding to the reflective atmosphere.

The centre table has transformed into a large memorial plinth; artefacts, letters, pictures, and candles lie on top of it, and all are invited to add their own personal additions. Over the plinth, names cascade slowly from the ceiling like snowflakes, disappearing a few centimetres above the ground.

There is once again, an orchestra, but quieter; the layout of the room means that the music can only be heard on the outside, and not near the plinth itself. (Synctube)

There is a dias on one end, but this is far more understated than the previous event.

Food is served at the bar.
