NARRATIVE: ((Note: The Following is filed before the results depicted in A Price to be Paid))

Earlier today as of the stardate on this report this officer was visiting Event Horizon before a new shift rotation when they and several others of the officers listed above were presented with one Mondet behind the bar acting as a bartender, a position they do not hold and never have, though they believed it to be a known fact. The initial assumption of a joke was put away as a second Mondet in a medical uniform, also not their known position, appeared. It quickly became clear we were seeing something unusual, and this officer being a commanding officer of the known LtJG Mondet, unfortunately was aware that this did not seem an unlikely result of one of their experiments. At this time no known experiment had been approved for the record.

Leaving the lounge with a number of the officers, another Mondet was encountered on the Promenade claiming to be an adventurer fighting pirates before appearing here. They were a bit unruly at first but calmed down, nonetheless we called station security and alerted them to the apparent situation of multiple variations of Mondet appearing, and to try to handle those we've seen. We knew we had to determine how this happened and how to stop it from worsening. Initially planning to go to a station science lab, during this officer's check in with the U.S.S. Shackleton a sign of other Mondets that were perhaps more dangerous caused communication to fall out. This led to us working with Station Ops to get a site to site transport to the Shackleton bridge. At this time we were also aware other nearby ships had also been seeing this phenomena, including U.S.S. Baton Rouge.

After confirming Captain Derenzis was alright (though injured, but stable), we went to Science Lab 11, the known Mondet's workspace, to see if we could determine what happened. There we encountered three different Mondet's of varying rank, all from different universes, who explained ours and they three all attempting the same experiment at once caused some sort of reality breakage that sent ours careening across multiple universes while all the variations of him from them were deposited here. They were trying to work out a solution, which Lt. T'Lal joined them in working on. As they did this a violent and perhaps deranged Mondet entered the lab with a weapon intent on destroying the device needed to solve the problem. Captain Nimitz detained him and we kept him guarded while the others finished. Running their plan, all the alternate Mondet variations swiftly vanished from view. At first it seemed we were not receiving ours back as expected, though Lt. T'Lal said it may take time.

I was prepared to shut off the device if all the others had left after a certain time limit on the chance we weren't going to see ours (we had no proof he was still alive in fact) to ensure no further incident, but before I could bring this up ours appeared. The device was shut down and our Mondet, clearly frazzled and disturbed by his experience, was seen to by medical specialists and taken to sickbay.

RECOMMENDATION: The gravity of the situation cannot be understated... we later confirmed the alternate Mondet individuals were appearing in exponential numbers as time went on.. it is entirely possible the risk of severe casualties could have occurred. Luckily we prevented this but I have locked Lab 11 for an investigation into the device and the experiment to ensure it isn't repeated. For now our Mondet is being treated for injuries and perhaps psychological trauma, but I can confirm no safety precautions were taken and no authorization was sought to run any experiments by him this day. I will be thusly recommending several punitive measures to Captain Derenzis as this is unfortunately not the first dangerous incident to result from one of Mondet's experiments.

OOC: This is for the event A Crisis of Infinite Mondets run of Sunday July 5th at Beta+1. If I have misrepresented anyone's actions please let me know. Thank you Derenzis for running this event, it was quite entertaining, even if Tala disagrees.

MISSION: Professional visit to USS Shackleton

OUTCOME: Visit Interrupted by horde of Mondets

KEY PERSONNEL:
CREW Lauren, L. ((NPC))
LTJG Mondet (et al)

NARRATIVE: ((Note: The Following is filed before the results depicted in A Price to be Paid))

At the request of my Commanding Officer (Captain Sel, USS Brahe), I was directed to stop by the USS Shackleton at the request of their Chief Engineer Voyrays, who I had worked with previously. I was also asked by Captain Sel to stop by LTJG Mondet's laboratory and say hello, as Captain Sel had worked with Mondet on a previous mission and felt my networking with the Lieutenant would be an educational experience.

It took me some time to locate Lieutenant Mondet, as the Shackleton's size and layout are unfamiliar to me (my only posting has been the Brahe). Upon finding Science Lab 11, I found the Lieutenant working with a device which he described as the Mondet Quantum Interferometric Scanning Imager. After a brief technical discussion with the Lieutenant, he stated he was ready to test the device. As a visitor and crewman, I deferred to the Lieutenant, operating under the assumption that this device and the testing had already been approved.

Once the device was activated, the Lieutenant seemed concerned by something, stepped towards the device, and vanished. At about that time, several more Mondets appeared, some with different rank, insignia, or uniforms. I asked the other Mondets to deactivate the device, which they did; however, the situation continued to deteriorate. I then rushed from the laboratory and alerted the Bridge.

Uncertain if my message was received I then attempted to reach the Bridge, but became lost in the Shackleton's corridors as I attempted to dodge Mondets, including a trip through some of the Shackleton's Jeffries Tubes. By the time I had made it to the bridge, the situation had been resolved. With the Shackleton busy with cleanup, I returned to the Brahe to report what happened.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
  • While this was my only time meeting Lieutenant Mondet, he seemed like a very genuine, enthusiastic scientist. I just want to go on record saying that the Lieutenant did not appear to me to be acting out of malice or willful negligence.
  • The Mondet Quantum Interferometric Scanning Imager has the potential for revolutionizing the way we understand other quantum realities; I recommend this research not be abandoned

NARRATIVE: At approximately Beta +2.5, this officer witnessed a uniformed officer approach the helm and attempt to "report for duty", despite Ensign Mitsuki already being at the helm and on shift. Upon questioning, the officer stated that he was one Ensign Mondet, serving on the U.S.S. Endeavour. Ensign Tonorr quickly stated that there was no such officer on the ship's duty roster, and the only Mondet there was a record of was a Lieutenant Junior Grade Mondet onboard the U.S.S. Shackleton. A call from Commander Larson informed this officer that there was another "Mondet" who had apparently turned up to counselling and was leading counselling sessions.

Placing Lieutenant Commander Dix in command of the bridge, this officer was leading the Ensign Mondet to counselling when Captain Bishop commed us from the lounge, stating that there was a Mondet who was attempting to help the chef cook food, whilst Commander Faraday commed to say there was a Mondet who had tried to access one of the science labs. It was decided to take all these Mondets to the mess hall where we could hold them. Upon deliberation in the mess hall, more Mondets were identified, including one trying to access the Intelligence Room, and one who tried to apprehend Captain Valencia for being "a violent and deranged escaped convict, who had massacred 20,000 people on Frika Prime, as well as killing 47 officers who had tried to apprehend her," a status she took great offence to.

This officer and Commander Faraday began to conduct a search on the ship for more Mondets, whilst the Captain returned to the bridge, where he apprehended another Mondet who had apparently assaulted Ensign Mitsuki; it was later learnt that the Mondet was attempting to wipe down the Ensign's console. With reports from all departments stating various Mondets appearing, and the Mondets we were holding in the mess hall beginning to incite a riot, we were considering going to high alert. However, the Mondets suddenly disappeared. Careful scans indicated there were no Mondets remaining.

Due to the Istrika Corridor restricting long-range communications, we were unable to contact the U.S.S. Shackleton during the crisis, but as soon as we were clear of the corridor, our hail to the U.S.S. Shackleton was received and the situation explained. Final checks were done and once this was complete, our survey resumed.

RECOMMENDATION: This incident could have been avoided with proper oversight and procedures followed carefully; these procedures are set to stop these incidents from occurring in the first place. Lieutenant Mondet's actions placed not only his ship at risk, but as it seems, other ships and the station. This officer recommends that Lieutenant Mondet's Commanding Officer take the necessary steps to discipline her officer as she deems necessary.

Fortunately, there was no damage done to the U.S.S. Endeavour and we were able to resume our normal operations within a few hours. The U.S.S. Shackleton's Commanding Officer may wish to take this into account when assessing what measures to take.

ADDENDUM filed by CAPT S. BISHOP: This officer believes serious disciplinary measures be taken on Lieutenant Mondet. His willful neglect of safety precautions and oversight caused huge repercussions. Whilst the U.S.S. Endeavour suffered no damage, the potential threat the ship faced is unacceptable, especially given the fact there was no warning to this happening. Acting in a way that threatens a singular ship is grounds for dismissal; acting in a way that hinders multiple ships, and Deep Space 13, which is the base of Starfleet Operations in this and adjacent sectors, and the seat of the command of the 38th Fleet borders on obstructing fleet operations. Such a serious offence should be taken into account when deciding on the punishment of the Lieutenant.

OOC: This is the report on what happened on the Endeavour during the event "A Crisis of Infinite Mondets", taking place on the Endeavour Discord. I'm not sure how public Mondet's punishment is yet, and so I've written this report assuming that the Endeavour staff don't know about it.

Sam thinks Mondet should be subject to a firing squad at dawn. Amy's a bit more restrained. Brie's only offended because those are rookie numbers.
