MISSION Classfied Intelligence Mission.

OUTCOME Intelligence asset obtained. Mirror Universe vessel captured.

KEY PERSONNEL

  • CAPT Mirazuni, A.
  • CAPT Nimitz, A.
  • LCDR Burov, K.
  • LCDR Flynn, M.

NARRATIVE The task force arrived at the designated coordinates and assumed a holding pattern. Upon the arrival of the *U.S.S. Asimov, Lieutenant Commander Burov conducted a briefing, informing us of our objective; to provide protective escort to the Asimov as it initiated the opening of a rift into the Mirror Universe to extract a high-value intelligence asset.

The task force was placed on yellow alert as the rift was activated. Shortly thereafter, a Romulan runabout emerged from the portal and docked with the Asimov. Lieutenant Commander Burov subsequently confirmed that the intelligence asset had been successfully secured.

Before the rift could be closed, a Hydra-class Terran vessel came through. The task force immediately transitioned to red alert and initiated standard hailing protocols. Captain Nimitz engaged in dialogue with the vessel’s commanding officer, who agreed to allow Starfleet security personnel to board and secure the ship. The vessel’s captain and first officer were subsequently transported to the brig aboard the U.S.S. Endeavour.

All senior officers present—excluding Lieutenant Commander Burov—proceeded to question the detainees. The Terran captain claimed to be fleeing the Terran Empire, having followed the Romulan runabout with the intent to either provide aid or request asylum.

The captain was cooperative during the interrogation; however, I was unable to confirm the truthfulness of her statements through telepathic means as I did not want to risk injury.

RECOMMENDATION It is my recommendation that the Terran vessel’s captain be transferred to Deep Space 13 for further questioning.

Both the captain and her first officer exhibited signs of mild malnourishment. As such, they should be placed under medical supervision and provided with a carefully managed nutritional regimen to restore and maintain their health.

The remainder of the Terran crew should also be detained under appropriate security protocols. Comprehensive medical assessments are advised to identify and address any underlying health conditions, including malnutrition or other stress-related issues that may impact their well-being or cooperation.

The captain will likely claim asylum for herself and her crew. It is recommended that they be treated following Starfleet protocols governing asylum seekers. This includes ensuring their humane treatment, safeguarding their rights under Federation law, and conducting a thorough review of their backgrounds before any final determination.

RECOGNITION The conduct of all personnel involved was consistently professional throughout the operation.

ADDENDUM Having had a chance to conduct an initial interview with the Terran Captain, one Iana Vel, they confirmed their status as fugitives from the Terran Empire following the recent civil war. More recently however the crew of the Aegis conducted a raid upon the Battlestation 13 (the Terran Counterpart to Deep Space 13) during the initial mission of our imbedded strike team.

During this raid one of the Captains of the Terran battlefleet was caught in the crossfire, who happened to be the wife to the Military Governor of Tzenketh ,and sustained minor injuries. The Governor* in question launched a retaliation, dispatched several task forces of his own personal warships with orders to hunt down and destroy the Aegis. Given the origins of the vendetta and the state of the Terran Empire’s rather fluid and violent political field, the threat to Captain Iana Vel and her crew was imminent and fatal if they had remained in their universe of origin. On these grounds the reporting officer was able to grant them temporary asylum pending review.

The following recommendations; The ISS Aegis and her crew should be held in our custody in a secure and remote location that is not Deep Space 13 until the case is reviewed.

Given the nature of their risks of remaining in the parallel universe, Captain Iana Vel is not suitable for recruitment for intelligence asset within the Terran Empire or any associated powers in the parallel universe.

The reporting officer believes asylum and witness protection service would be the best measure of safety for the crew of the Aegis, Captain Iana Vel however represents an interesting clog, as she is a Trill host with a symbiote that is the counterpart to our own Captain Vel of the USS Hornet. Recommend relocation to Deep Space 13 for close observation and consultation with the Trill Symbiosis Institute for a path forward.

On the subject of the Aegis, if there is nothing of note for Intelligence asset, it should be returned to the parallel universe and decommissioned in a matter that leaves little doubt for the Terran Empire that they ran afoul of something hostile and was lost all hands.

The reporting officer has no reason to believe that returning Captain Iana Vel to the parallel universe will be anything other then a death sentencing.

*The Governor in question was the parallel counterpart of the reporting officer, one Praetor Alistair Nimitz.

Subj: Disposition of ISS Aegis and Crew

All crew are to be relocated to Deep Space 13 detention housing. Transfers have been arranged to several appropriate long-term facilities where the detainees will receive full debriefings and any individual asylum requests will be considered.

ISS Aegis itself is to be placed temporarily into drydock. A Starfleet Intelligence team will arrive and take permanent possession before the end of the month.
