NARRATIVE While patrolling the area of space where a recent Starfleet Intelligence operation was conducted (see report - NOTE: Requires Security Level 3 Clearance), the USS Roosevelt’s sensors detected an anomalous reading originating from a nearby system. Tracking the anomaly to its source on a L Class world, the planet’s surface was scanned, revealing the presence of the ruins of a pre-warp civilization. No lifesigns were detected. An away team was beamed down to the planet, consisting of myself, Lieutenant Commander Vulok, Leiutenant Delix, and science officer Ensign Zarhan, where tricorder scans indicated that the deceased and their structures had been left untouched for some time, likely for at least a decade if not longer. Additionally, evidence of phaser fire on the bodies and buildings was found, along with other weaponry typically used by Starfleet.
The away team traced the focal point of the anomaly to a spatial rift in a cavern, which after scans indicated that it may have been used as a gateway to the Mirror Universe. It was hypothesized based on the evidence found that the Terran Empire, during a previous incursion to our universe, destroyed the civilization here before returning to their own. Lieutenant Delix was instructed to close the rift with help from Lieutenant De Luca, who joined the away team to assist, and were successful in their assignment. With the rift dispersed, it should prevent further access to our universe by the Terrans in this area of space.
RECOMMENDATION No action necessary, though it is suggested to monitor this sector for the emergence of more of these types of anomalies.
