CAPT Mirazuni, A.
LOCATION ConAm Outpost 423, Acheron System, Aldebaran Sector
MISSION Neutralise C’thon activity at ConAm Outpost 423; prevent use of improvised mass driver; maintain integrity of Preserver prison dimension.
OUTCOME Mass driver destroyed. Outpost heavily damaged, with C’thon survivors retreating inside the asteroid. Radiation from the pulsar now directly bathes the exposed structure, providing containment. The Preserver seal remains intact. Task Force withdrew, leaving the system quarantined and under probe surveillance.

NARRATIVE Previous encounters revealed the C’thon as a telepathic, subspace-phasing species imprisoned by the Preservers. While most of their kind remain sealed in a pocket dimension beneath the outpost, external remnants had survived and were constructing a mass driver powered through bio-webbing. The device posed an existential threat if completed.
Recent reconnaissance indicated webbing over the mining outpost and assembly of a mass driver drawing power through C’thon bio-webs. During the briefing, I assigned roles to those present; The Defender and Scharnhorst would stop the asteroid’s rotation and hold the facility facing the pulsar so the radiation would render the C’thon inert. The Opportunity was to recon and dismantle the mass driver using Mk IV hardened probes, whilst the Endeavour was to screen and absorb contact, modulate shields, and interdict C’thon “asteroid-sail” projectiles.
On the Endeavour, ENS Vemok would coordinate shield remodulation, hull polarisation, and deflector priming against radiation and subspace ingress, whilst LT Thyzee would work on subspace lure to draw C’thon’s attention away from other ships and monitor telepathic activity.
NARRATIVE Following the briefing, Endeavour led a multi-ship approach along a shadowed trajectory to limit pulsar exposure. As we approached, we detected the usual telepathic taps, indicating the C’thon had identified us.
The Scharnhorst and Defender began to rotate the asteroid, whilst the Opportunity’s probes began to dismantle the mass driver. When the driver began to fire asteroids, the Scharnhorst moved to intercept, whilst the Endeavour and Defender also opened fire.
Meanwhile, the Opportunity’s probes were having trouble breaking through the webbing around the mass driver, as more C’thon were attempting to escape. LT Thyzee activated her lure, which drew the C’thon towards the Endeavour allowing the other ships to complete their tasks. This allowed the Defender to finish rotating the asteroid, and the combined efforts of the Endeavour, Bark, and Leopard, to destroy the C’thon attacking the ship.
Opportunity reported that their probes were being attacked by C’thon on the asteroid, attempting to protect the mass driver. A subsequent spread of quantums from Scharnhorst detonated close to the asteroid surface as they attempted to remove these C’thon.
The resulting blast destroyed the mass driver and shredded half of the mining outpost and its shielding webs. C’thon caught in the open were eliminated. Those in mid-jump portals fell back to the ruins. Survivors retreated into the asteroid interior through collapsing portal networks.
With the webbing down, the Opportunity was able to finish dismantling the mass driver.
Radiation from the pulsar now struck the facility continuously. Sensor returns were finally able to penetrate, revealing a residual Preserver power source deep within the structure. LT Thyzee’s telepathic read confirmed the surviving C’thon to be furious, but intent on waiting until a new opportunity presented itself for them to escape.
I ordered Scharnhorst to deploy a replacement monitoring device to provide long-term overwatch, and the task force departed the system.
RECOMMENDATION Maintain permanent quarantine of the Acheron system. The asteroid must remain intact to avoid destabilising the Preserver seal. Monitoring probes should continue long-term surveillance. If new C’thon construction is detected, remote disruption should be prioritised; boarding or direct strikes against the asteroid should not be attempted. A permanent picket line in the sector is required to ensure early detection of any breakout attempts.
I also recommend that Command review protocols for bringing young children on the bridge, especially when embarking on dangerous missions into hazardous environments.
RECOGNITION All performed as expected. Coordination between starships was clear and crisp, ensuring a successful mission.
Ensign Vemok is also to be commended for his exceptional work on the bridge of the Endeavour, stepping into a demanding role as the science bridge officer and coordinating all teams. His work was invauable to the safety of everyone on board and the success of the mission.
Lieutenant Thyzee is also to be commended, creating and launching the C’thon lure. This allowed the Endeavour to buy valuable time for the other ships which was key to the success of the operation.
OOC This is the AAR for the event The Commital.
