Coby's Random Uninteresting Dump

Some more messing about, was looking at the Docked Ships wall in ESD and fancied an attempt, not too impressed with how the DS13 outline or LCARS came out and will probably revisit at somepoint, but again just some doodling to keep me entertained. Obviously not exactly IC correct or anything, but still.

Something a little different, un-Trek related and a bit personal;

For those who don’t know me (I know I’m never around so no one knows me) I run a pub IRL, and recently went through a bit of a re-brand with me having taken sole-ownership of the business now, it’s a small little ā€˜proper boozer’ but me being a massive nerd we incorporate a little pop culture and have a modern twist on the whole thing.

With the pub, we’ve always used it’s traditional branding and never really had a ā€œlogoā€ as such, we have a sign that dates back to 1820, and in the past ex-landlords have had their own twist on it. We had a bit of a refurbish and had one of the old signs wall mounted, which gave me an idea and decided to go for it.

Reference

I designed it to be modular, the beer glass being the primary design with space for event-specific objects and activities, for example for live music and open-mic’s, the guitar and microphone. I have a larger scope in mind, pumpkin head and broomstick for Halloween, santa hats etc, however whipped these two up yesterday as they were fresh on the mind.

On a personal note, I used to lecture video game design and 3D modelling. Specifically hard-surface modelling, really, but on the side I ā€œtaughtā€ vector art at a (very) basic level for First Year students. As y’all probably know from my spam, I love doodling and whipping up random designs for stuff, but I’ve never actually designed something for professional use outside of teaching and Demonstration, so it was a bit of a step for me to go ahead and quite literally work for myself.

If you got this far, thankyou for reading and taking a peak, it’s very different from my usual stuff and likely no ones cup of tea, but I appreciate it.

Needs a cup of tea

Designs look great Coby!

That’s awesome! With it being modular, you can do a lot with it for marketing purposes. (Jersey and ball for sports events/show specific items if you wanna do a popular show watch party, etc.)

Been using my old laptop while being away this weekend, found a few things from a while back that I’ve decided to remaster, if you would.

Established a few permanent events over the last couple of months, to which for continuity’s sake added a variant of the logo for temporary profile pics etc on top of their individual branding. Still trying to nail down drawing minimal-lines people, but getting there slowly.

We have live music nights, which I whip up a quick version for whatever act is playing, Vinyl nights, chess nights and a monthly car meet.

Was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on some props to place for a general board-game night and a book club we have ongoing. My bookclub one had the cherub reading a book, but not sure what else could make the design more interesting.

ANYWAY

Been working on some Trek content and squadron based graphics for flavour, so will post something actually argo related soon. Thanks for taking a look!

Had too much time on my hands behind the bar to myself today.

[EDIT 02/17/24 - Had a lot to catchup on >_> ]

Finished this, if anyone wants any STO-style ship roster … thing, here’s an almost up to date fleet roster. It should be PNG, so just cut around your ship and you’re golden. Lot of ships don’t have dossiers or easily accessable NCC’s so I left them blank to be filled in. There’s not a lot of use for these I know, but just incase anyone could get some use out of them. Can’t believe I missed Atlantis.

This is very much a random dump for selfish reasons, in my random dump of super old things I hadn't popped here- also reminds me I attempted a basic MU patch once.

[EDIT 3] PROJECT: COMPLETED (Last Post, Promise)

I had a lot of fun doing this, this was the first time in a while I’ve taken some time to learn a few new things and get to grips with a different style.

I realised while I want a whole set of Odyssey Uniform, I know I wouldn’t be able to stop and I genuinely would start printing the whole fleet. Something I’d be super interested in working with people on, if for any reason someone wanted a custom designed figure! But for now, settled for the original crew of the Argo RP October in old TFA uniform as that was a set I could complete.

(Making the Ferengi was/is still something I’m struggling with, but for now, she’ll do).

As a massive fallout fan and in celebration of the Fallout Series on Amazon, I also whipped these together. As a coat was going to go over the torso, I felt stickers would suffice and certainly save money but the design of the Ranger armour was certainly fun to whip up.

Silly project, but something that’s taught me a few things and has been enjoyable. Started work on some Old-Style Argo uniforms too, the Sierra uniform actually transfers over into the style a lot better so look out for more Coby’sCurrentFad spam later.

[Edit] Told you there’d be more current fad. Interesting thing I learned with these, having to match the colour codes to actual available lego colours for the arms, 'else they’d look out of place.

[EDIT 2] Forgive the constant bumps, I figure if there’s even a slim chance someone might fancy using these I’m gonna just post my latest A4 print sheet. Did a few test runs just with paper, really happy with how these came out. Of course standard paper/sticker paper isn’t going to be brilliant but! Sent some blank figures and the design off for laser print, will see how they come back.

Something that isn’t lego, but yes there will be more lego sadly. In a couple of months five of us are going to be doing the UK equivalent (Not really) of Route 66, the NC500- takes you to the very peak of the Scottish Highlands and back down. So after paying Nessy a little visit and saying hello to plenty of whiskey distilleries we’ll then be heading back home. The only issue is we’ll be doing it old bangers, mine especially having broken down 8 months ago when I tried to visit Belgium.

But it’s a sort of special UK thing, so made up some stickers for the cars.

Figured it’s been a while since I actually posted something random in this thread.
