Marrack Valusia, First High Brother of Valanteâ Valusia Kar leaned his muscular frame against a table with his arms crossed. The look on his face said everything about his mood, which was not happy.
âSherrishia,â he said to his sister, the Tabadi or Matriarch of the house who stood in her skin tight armored suit while looking at a pad she was holding, â, this is a horrible idea. There is no reason you should go.â
âThere are many reasons I should go,â she said sternly.
âI can handle this myself, â Marrack replied.
âI know that,â she looked up at Marrack. âYou are quite capable, my brother. A brilliant commander and an amazing tactician. I have the utmost faith in you. That is not at issue.â
âYou are still concerned with looking weak?â he asked. âIs that it? What that fool Hesh-Tabadi said?â
âYes,â she said in a âmatter-of-factâ manner. âIt is.â
Marrack stood straight up and said, âIgnore her. Just ignore her. Ignore all of them!â
âHow can I when they are trying to turn my own people against me?â
âYour subjects, the common folk; they all know that you have fought for them. They love you. You are the Tabadi of the people!. Why risk this over⌠petty insults from those that resist the coming of the future? Why? If you die, who takes your place? Meleinia canât even fill a glass of water without burning down the kitchen.â
âMarrack,â she said, trying not to get irritated. âI will not hide behind the blood, bone, and flesh of my people. I will be there with them, fighting for the future. Just⌠please, Marrack, my dear brother, I will be fine. I know you will be there with your fleet looking over me, and my flagship is larger than anything the syndicate could possibly muster. They would never dare challenge us directly. â
âThey wouldnât, but what if someone else did?â
She sighed. She looked at her desk amongst her pictures and there, by Jeiliscia, was a picture of another Starfleet officer, Captain Lunya Vel.
âWould it make you feel better if I requested Starfleet be present?â she said, turning back to Marrack. âThese days there are few who would openly challenge them.â
