DEEP SPACE COMMAND TRANSITIONS

A Promotion and Transfer Spell Out Changes for Deep Space 13

ALDEBARAN SECTOR, Stardate 95558 - A Change of Command ceremony is due for Deep Space 13, coinciding with Captain Caspius’ promotion to Rear Admiral and assignment to Directorship of Starfleet Cartography.

Deep Space 13 is a thriving hub of activity in the Aldebaran sector, where a variety of new research, deep space exploration and diplomatic encounters take place. As such, the job of being the starbase commander is one that isn’t undertaken lightly.

Very few in the history of the position have stepped into the role in such trying circumstances as Captain Caspius. The station was still in the process of being rebuilt from the tragic events last year. People were still grieving and others felt unsafe even when the station was back up and running. Any station commander would have had a challenge on their hands, and Captain Caspius met it with the dedication to protocol that would quickly restore a sense of normalcy to the people.

In the time since then, Captain Caspius has enacted several changes to increase the safety and security of Deep Space 13. His devotion to duty and adherence to Starfleet’s standards has left a legacy of excellence and efficiency that his successor will find it hard to meet. The chamber ensemble will also miss his rigorous rehearsals and elegant selections.

In the words of Rear Admiral Koniezcko: “Whoever steps into his office after him will have a very large pair of shoes to fill.”

It’s a challenge that the Admiralty considered before deciding who to have take the place of the redoubtable Captain Caspius. The replacement will have to be able to continue the Deep Space 13’s legacy of excellence and support for the front-line efforts of the 38th Fleet. In this case, it was determined that a Captain that commanded a ship from within the fleet was a suitable replacement; selecting one that has had exploration and combat experience, diplomatic involvement and is a three year veteran working with the fleet and station.

The Captain selected to replace Captain Caspius is currently commanding the U.S.S. William Ockham and will be leaving behind a legacy of her own. She’s known for scientific research, exploration and a transformative leadership style with a directive approach. Assuming the mantle of the starbase commanding officer will be an impressive step up for Captain Beylara Ailes.

The Change of Command ceremony will be by invitation only, with a reception to follow for friends, associates, and family featuring the Embassy chef’s prize-winning carrot cake. More information will be released regarding this event as it becomes available to those involved.
