BIOGRAPHICAL HIGHLIGHTS
Born to two accomplished Engineers working at San Francisco Fleet Yards; Hannah O'Dara was to be raised on Earth to a loving family, on the crown of the federation’s worlds set for a fine and happy future. Until an accident aboard one of the SF drydocks, a warp core malfunction destroyed the ship and the entire drydock it was housed in. All the crew aboard were killed, including her parents.
O’Dara would move away from San Francisco, living with her grandparents in Ireland and trying to live a normal life without them, but the instant she turned 18 she returned to San Francisco to enlist with Starfleet as an Engineer, like her parents before her.
Though she gave it her all trying to live up to her parent’s legacy; O'Dara pivoted her studies towards command and tactical, insisting to this day that any engineering console she goes near is filled with 'gremlins'.
Despite numerous setbacks, including concerns from her instructors regarding her lack of focus and overindulgence in synthohol, Hannah O'Dara graduated Starfleet Academy as an Ensign, earning a commission as the helmsman on the USS Littlerock after 4 years in the academy.
Whilst the ship was old enough to be piloted by her great grandfather, it was a reliable vessel and perfect for patrolling the core federation words and escorting freighters nearer the neutral zone. She received her first promotion to Lieutenant Jr Grade following a skirmish with Klingon raiders that left the Littlerock decommissioned. Following a brief stint at K-7, O’Dara would later transfer to the USS Fiji, a Bellerophon Class set to reinforce the federations furthest borders from threats, as well as chart unknown space.
The Fiji's voyages were instrumental in repelling fledgling attacks by pirates as well as rogue Klingon and Romulan dissenters that harassed the federations less defended borders, as well as providing a much-needed federation presence for the colonies furthest from the safety of core federation space.
During this time; O’Dara’s consistent sense of duty to both the Fiji’s crew and her mission earned her both the promotion to the rank of Lieutenant, then onto Lieutenant Commander.
Her post would come to end, following an encounter with an antimatter anomaly that crippled the Fiji and left most of the crew incapacitated. O’Dara had barely managed to plot a course before the antimatter flooded her console and it exploded, covering nearly entirely in plasma burns. If not for the assistance of the EMH and a nearby cargo vessel, she would have died.
Hannah spent 9 months recovering from her injuries, missing the memorial service held in honour of the hands lost during the incident. During this time she would frequently import whiskey to help deal with the pain and the loss, much to the ire of her doctors.
While over 95% of her skin was recovered; O'Dara insisted on forgoing the most intensive procedures, wishing to return to active duty as soon as possible...and wanting to hold onto the memories of those that were lost in her own way.
After being cleared to return to duty, O’Dara was offered a senior position aboard the San Francisco shipyards, helping maintain operations aboard the station she once dreamed of serving on. She eagerly took the post, but it wasn’t long before she filed another transfer request to another deep-space mission, the USS Daybreak, citing personal dissatisfaction with her current post.
Having read her report; Captain Reigns of the USS Daybreak put in a formal recommendation to have her take the bridge officer’s test and serve as his first officer, citing distinction in her history and experience with missions far away from the safety of the Federation. She accepted the position eagerly, even if she was slightly disappointed she wouldn't be flying the Pathfinder-Class starship, passing the bridge officers test and serving well in her years of command, even receiving a promotion to Commander in the process.
With her first assignment as First Officer completed, she has been transferred to Deep Space 13 to handle their tactical stations, whilst a suitable command is found for her to be transferred to.
