Rumor has it of one of them old Romulan bird-of-preys stalking the warfront. They say it’s a specter, here to conjure its vengeance on the Star Empire. Others claim pirates, using the war as an excuse to plunder unimpeded, ‘specially now that the Federation’s stuck their nose in it. I bet they’re banking on everyone being a bit too busy to notice em’. They’re probably just in it for the love of the game. Who knows?
Operation Guillotine launched under a veil of secrecy. It is common knowledge that Starfleet’s invasion of the Star Empire began today, and news of Task Force Condor’s reported victory at Cero is spreading throughout the quadrant, but the disposition of the rest of the invasion force is very hard to come by.
Rumors are swirling around the Federation of intense fighting at and around Rator III, but Starfleet Command has yet to even confirm the target of the invasion, let alone its outcome. None of the major news outlets are reporting any details either. As with any vacuum of information, the silence has been filled with countless theories.
The most optimistic rumors say the Romulans were caught completely off guard, and the lack of information can only mean that Starfleet is dictating the terms of a Star Empire surrender. Others insist the opposite - the invasion must have ended in disaster, and Starfleet is keeping their massive losses quiet. Still others are spreading the rumor that both Starfleet Task Forces and the RSE defenders were caught in a temporal anomaly and transported one year into the future, to 2424. The oddly specific nature of that one has probably helped give it traction.
Rumor has it that the stenciled outlines of Scorpion fighters have been seen drawn under the cockpits of several Valkyries and a Peregrine from the USS Forrestal.
Rumor has it that the most recent group of Star Empire prisoners captured by the 4th Fleet in the Agrama Sector are profoundly demoralized, spreading tales of heavy losses suffered at the hands of an exploding star. The depth of the tragedy seems to grow with each retelling, with some among them even beginning to refer to the location of the disaster as Mol’Hobus.
Rumor has it due to the extremely poor performance of her assigned Peregrines, USS Forrestal has grounded the fighter type in favor of the newer Valkyries.
Rumor has it that all convoy traffic in and out of the K’Shan system has come to a halt.
Rumor has it that the USS Reyga crew has started a new tradition aboard.
For two weeks running now, a small number of officers have received care packages and though no one is exactly sure who the gifts have been from, speculation is that they are definitely all coming from one source, specifically because all of the them have come labeled with the ‘Official Reyga Care Package’ tag. The contents of the care packages have varied and they seem to have been at least in part customized for the recipient, based on their species or other well-known facts about the individual that more than a few colleagues would know.
So far, only six crew members can claim they’ve received ‘official’ care packages. But the idea has started to catch on, inspiring Reyga personnel to send their own “Unofficial” Reyga care packages to their friends and department-mates.
Rumor has it that on her return to the Mariner from DS13, Doctor Greene didn’t return empty handed. The old drum kit has finally been moved to her new quarters on the ship. Much to the dread of her neighbours.
Rumours are making the rounds of the Endeavour about why Brie was seen on the ship. Was she making a triumphant return? Had she restarted the butter wars? Was she even real and not just another holoBrie?
Rumor has it that the USS Dragon’s industrial replicator is running nearly non-stop and the starbase in the Fvillhaih system is being repaired and re-fortified, also bringing its repair services back online for potential use by Starfleet and Republic ships by crews from USS Dragon and USS Albion, while they are stuck there tending to prisoners of war. Starfleet personnel are pulling long hours, but making excellent and rapid progress due to limiting the destruction against the starbase itself.
Rumor has it that the USS Forrestal has captured an intact Mogai Warbird, and has begun work on cracking the encryption on its computer core. The carrier is supposedly towing the ship to Federation space.
Through interception of Star Imperial communications, rumor has it one of the RSE’s Mogai Heavy Warbirds present at Chaltok was witnessed exiting warp into a fellow Imperial convoy of ships, consisting of relief and trauma transports, as well as a number of vessels with varying damage severity. The resulting cascading singularity breaches would see the destruction of a third of said convoy.
Secondly, rumor has it of a continuously repeating distress signal on the edge of the Chaltok system, readings indicate its source as an Imperial Malem light Warbird.
Rumour has it that Admiral Bishop’s moved his flag to Fvillhaih due to an incoming invasion. Some say that he is deciding on which ship to personally command for the invasion.
In other news, the odds for the admiral to be kidnapped have increased…
Rumor has it that squadron activity aboard the USS Forrestal has markedly ramped up. Briefing rooms have remained in use, and the ship’s holodecks have been restricted to fighter and shuttle pilots only…
Rumor has it Ansha was seen in the company of an engineering Lieutenant from USS Dragon…
… holding hands.
Rumor has it Tyrstoc, upon being returned to DS13, is making a characteristically swift recovery from a concussion, several broken ribs, and a shrapnel wound to his shoulder—all sustained in the final battle against the Romulans at Beta Reticuli. The scuttlebutt is that it took hours for anyone aboard the Heimdall to realize the full extent of the Captain’s injuries, and there was some struggle getting the MACO-tough Rigelian to stand down at first. He has also apparently shown little enthusiasm for the war’s end in any regard, and in fact hasn’t said much at all since the battle…
Rumor has it that Captain Vel took a detour on her journey of contacting families. Taking a few days, she has decided to take in some peace and quiet in the Canadian countryside.
It seems Tala doesn’t act like a typical Captain on her own ship. Reports from her barely spending time on bridge shifts in the chair, preferring sending orders remotely from her ready room or elsewhere, to her helping out in random departments and tasks in the ship. She’s also prone to giving simple orders people expect confirmed, one time causing the entire bridge crew to wait for her to confirm she wanted the ship to depart at warp for a destination she had told helm to set a course for before she clarified it was implied… 2 hours later.
This and more has led to an amusing series of growing pains between her and her new command staff, especially her more traditional first officer, with whom she has started to settle into a comically antagonistic relationship that helped the two find mutual respect. It confuses the rest of the senior staff.
So the story goes.
Rumor has it Sadaann’s dossier lists today(July 18th, 2423) as his birthday. The Ensign himself, however, has been absent from today’s Risian activities.
Rumor has it Matthew Flynn declined taking shore leave on Risa, instead opting to visit family on Earth for a few days while partially overseeing repairs to the Forrestal.
