‘Silent Quarry’

Civilian authorities on Coriok II (known locally as ‘Caravon’) have requested immediate Starfleet assistance. An entire mining team has gone missing from a dilithium extraction site in the planet’s remote highlands. The mine’s automated systems have been cycling erratically, and surface comms now report only distorted, looping audio signals.

Though a member world of the Federation, and also relatively close to Betazed, Coriok II is quite sparsely populated compared to the system’s namesake and principal inhabited world of Coriok I (or ‘Caravos’).

Starfleet fears either sabotage, environmental collapse, or possible incursion, but does not have any ships nearby suitably equipped for such possible outcomes. The mining site lies near several old Dominion War era bunkers, sealed since the armistice, which may complicate the picture.

38th Fleet Argo Captains are invited to assemble an away team to secure the mining site, locate survivors, and stabilise conditions underground. Expect close quarters, poor visibility, and potential hostile contact. Heavy equipment or armed drones may still be active in the tunnels.

Starfleet stresses that civilian lives are the priority… but unexplained signals raise the possibility of deeper complications.

RESERVED - 4 spots available, as I’d like to run this as a team of 5 at most. All rank types can attend, though Captain and below are preferred. Argonauts who are not in command of their own starship can attend under a ‘temporary’ officer exchange to the crew of the USS Tykera, if that feels realistic for your particular character situation.

Setting: ‘Coriok II surface / mining tunnels’ (Ground map based)

Starting Point: ‘Coriok II’ (a mission map → see notes below!)


OOC This event will take place on a ground map, with a mix of exploration, environmental hazard, and potential combat.

What to expect:

  • Tight spaces vibe, scanning anomalies, and RP concerning resources (light, filtration, seismic-stabilisers etc).
  • NPC civilians to locate and extract.
  • A puzzle element in deciphering the “looping audio” signal.
  • Optional tactical conflict depending on discoveries.

As always, story and roleplay take priority over any dice mechanics, but I may employ light rolls to handle hazard checks and certain outcomes for players.

Mission Map Needs To Be Unlocked!: Our mission map will be the one used by the Deferi daily called ‘Emancipation’ which is unlocked after doing ‘Out in the Cold’, part of the Deferi series. You can find both in the ‘Available’ tab of the mission journal. Should folks not have this unlocked or be under-level 65, we’ll just use another easier to access proxy map we’ll keep in reserve.
