CLIMATE

Arid to semi-arid across the surveyed continental region, with limited seasonal variation attributable to low axial tilt (approx. 12°). Water is present in significant quantity but distributed unevenly, concentrated in polar regions, subsurface aquifers, and a network of rivers originating in the interior mountain ranges. Precipitation is rare in the lowland desert regions and more frequent at higher elevations.

GEOGRAPHY

The surveyed region of interest is characterized by dramatic high-altitude terrain — sharp mountain ranges, deep canyon systems, and broad arid plains. The landscape is rich in mineral deposits, including significant concentrations of diamonds in the mountainous regions currently under active excavation by the native population.

OBSERVATION NOTES

102333.8 (AAR)

3047-IV flagged as Class M with conditions suitable for humanoid habitation. Subsequent biosign analysis returned an unexpected result: life sign readings consistent with Bolian physiology detected across multiple surface locations in the planet’s northern continental region.

No record of a Bolian colony, settlement, or presence in this system exists in Federation databanks. The planet has no prior entry in Starfleet cartographic records. Hails on all frequencies have produced no response.

Population is estimated ~70-80,000 (settled regions only).

An away team has been dispatched to investigate.

102356.2 (AAR)

After study of the colony population's genome and the discovery of the relic shards of a destroyed Preserver obelisk, it was concluded that the Bolians on Daleike are officially a branch from the original Bolian population originating on Bolarus. The prevailing theory is that a small, tribal population of people around 1,000 individuals, was collected by the Preservers -- perhaps 'saved' by some natural disaster that threatened the population's existence -- and then brought to Daleike.

DALEIKE PERSONS OF INTEREST

ZELMUR

A prominent local figure who was the first to discover diamonds while mining and achieved a sizeable head start. Has since become one of the wealthiest residents of Daleike. Maintains a private security detail.

DRASSIK

The de facto power in Daleike, operating outside any official capacity. Controls a sizable crew and appears to have the town’s population effectively intimidated into compliance. Approaches strangers with offers of employment before resorting to more direct measures. Recommend caution. Believed responsible for the death of the previous sheriff.

KOSS

The recently appointed ‘acting’ sheriff of Daleike, following the death of his predecessor (Odaq) under unconfirmed circumstances. Young and visibly under-resourced relative to the challenges of the position.
