Star Trek: Picard (Spoiler thread)

The theory seems plausible to me (if I were a Starfleet admiral, I’d never decomission an Odyssey so early without a very, very good reason).
Not sure why the Titan should receive the title of Starfleet flagship though.

The backstory of the Titan had it as the flagship while the Enterprise A was… uh, disgraced (or at least its command staff)? Captain Sulu advocated for the Titan, under the command of Captain Saavik (also the name of the shuttle in the second episode) to be the flagship until the Enterprise B was launched.

This does sort of establish the Enterprise 1701 as the flagship (I don’t think that’s ever been a thing until now, only the 1701-D - I could be wrong)

As for why that would then make the new Titan the flagship, it probably doesn’t make much in universe sense, but I can see Matalas pulling that.

Personally, I still don’t think they will decommission the F at the end, but we’ll have to see.

Decomission, or…explosion? XD I’m scared by what could happen to a beloved Odyssey

IIRC, at least Beta canon lore has the Titan carrying the title of flagship when the Enterprise is non-existant - ie, Shang-ri La class between 1701-A and -B.

This is where I got that from: Enterprise E/F and Titan's Origins Lore Revealed - YouTube

If they do, ive just headcanonned that they then reactivate her in 2309 in response to the 2800 retaking DS9.

Really starting to think that Jack is not actually Jack. That he’s either partially (infected somehow?) or entirely a Changeling programmed to think he’s Jack.

“Come home” … to the Link?

I was on the boat of “possessed” or melded with a redemption seeking rebel changeling theory for Jack.

But is anyone getting Shinzon vibes out of them taking Picards body? Like…I’m trying to figure out what biological reasoning they would need it, or what makes that MUCH more valuable to them than that portal weapon…

I hope next weeks episode gives some amazing story as to exactly this! Cause atm I’m kinda feeling this is the “jump the shark” moment I was hoping wouldn’t happen.

That aside, anyone know what other ships were present at the museum? I could have sworn I saw a Romulan ship kinda like this one Romulan Bird-of-Prey (22nd century) | Memory Alpha | Fandom but assuming my eyes didn’t deceive me, what “historical” ship could that have been?

The ship from this episode? Veritas (episode) | Memory Alpha | Fandom

“Excellent use of the word ‘burgle’, Admiral!”

Loved the cloak, the LaForges. As for taking Picard’s body, I was thinking maybe they need it to pin everything they’re about to do on him, but changelings haven’t needed to be body snatchers before. Still puzzled on that.

Also, I was hoping Moriarity would have a meatier role here, but I think that was an intentional fake-out in the trailers.

Maybe I just wasn’t paying attention, but I missed that Kirk’s body was there. I saw the “Genesis 2” but didn’t catch that the other panel showed that it was Kirk. That seems a bit overboard in the forced-nostalgia department, but I guess it was at least subtle, to the point that I missed it until seeing the Spoiler thread in Discord and seeing an article online about it.

Yeah! I couldn’t make out the text on the screen with Rafi walked by so I also found out via YouTube that it was Kirk’s body. What a weird thing to keep in storage (like Picards). I can understand Starfleet eventually removing his body from whatever planet he was buried in and giving a proper burial with honors but why would Section 31 then swipe the body? Just plain weird.

Also, don’t forget the “attack tribble”

I would like to officially change my name to “Attack Tribble.”

I’m severely disappointed by this episode, tbh.
It was basically all fan service whose main ingredient was a HUGE nostalgia effect about…well, about everything (though I was admittedly moved by Seven telling Jack about the Voyager, that was nostalgia done right).
Daystrom Station is utterly disappointing: a huge super-secret, highly classified, installation containing ALL the most precious and/or dangerous stuff Starfleet has met/created and…there’s absolutely nobody on board. There are no ships patrolling it. There is no outer defense system. Basically, it is just a huge shopping mall for villains to take what they need in order to try (again) to destroy the Federation. That’s it. It is just plainly lame.
And all this darkness is now definitely getting on my nerves. Everything’s dark in Starfleet. And I’m afraid it’s not just the lights.
And Starfleet is, once again, doing things which sounds extremely stupid (like linking ALL its ships…which is also utterly unbelievable, given the distances they travel) and clearly a reference to contemporary military practice which, however (and at the risk of sounding repetitive) doesn’t sound like good ideas in a Star Trek setting at all.
Vadic could have been an interesting character until now. At least, I was hoping she was not just a plain villain doing villainous things, but someone who found herself, in a sense, ‘caught in the middle’ and doing her best (even if it meant killing our heroes). Apparently, she’s just a villain. Another one doing rumbling speeches against the Federation (she gave me some Krall vibes). So, nothing new, and a wasted opportunity, at least for the moment.

There’s some light in this episode for me? There’s. There’s Shaw meeting La Forge and behaving like a fan boy, which was fun; there was the interaction between Geordi and his daughter; the interactions between the whole cast, actually, was good and played the nostalgia card in the right way.
But all the rest…disappointing (again, in my opinion).

P.S.: the revelation that the Changelings stole Picard’s remains is interesting, but it all depends on what will happen next.

P.P.S.: and the fact that Kirk’s remains should be on Daystrom is just spooky, perhaps even a bit disgusting, tbh. Though the same may be said of Picard’s, at least he’s still living, so one could say he had decided that (though clearly he didn’t). Honestly, Daystrom Station shed a very bad light on Starfleet as a whole. It could perfectly have been a Terran station.

Somehow, the changelings have returned… and now we know how! Well, we kinda knew the how but we didn’t know the why so much.

An interesting episode, kinda dark just like the rest of the ship (lol). I’ve had the impression for a while now that Jack isn’t really Crusher and Picards kid. I think the real kid may have died at some point or even kidnapped and replaced by the Jack we know now and that this (maybe) changeling Jack has been living with solids for so long, that he can’t really remember who he was before he started living his life as Jack.

I’m not sure if he’s a changeling and doesn’t remember, or rather if he’s some other weird thing that belongs in some public DS9 RPer’s bio, that would be of great use to the changelings. They mentioned there was something else in Picard, implying that he passed it along (but may only have to do with why they want his body?). But what? Borg nanobots? Sentient Earl Gray? Tuvix’ baby?

I really don’t know.

Still waiting for Odo to come in and kick rogue changeling butt and be like, “Ooops, my bad. Forgot a few.”

Playable changeling. #crypticwhen :joy:

When she’s interacting with “Tuvok”, both before and after the reveal, it seemed that Jeri was very much falling back into Seven’s old cadences of speech, more than we’ve heard lately.

and now, the conclusion speculation:
the last Dominion War ended when Odo agreed to willingly rejoin the Link, and bring with him both the cure for their physical disease and, everyone hoped, their trauma and antipathy for solids. I think maybe Jack, whatever he is, may end up doing much the same. (It’s the sort of “rhyming” ending that appeals so much to nerds of a certain sort cough )

also, Data and Lore remaining unintegrated is a big Chekov’s gun (no, not Pavel), and I think that part of the resolution of all of this is going to be them finally coming to some sort of accord and wholeness, just as Soong hoped.
