"The Orville", Seth MacFarlane / Jon Favreau, FOX

Remind anyone of their crew?

Bet we see this before Discovery.

I said it in the shout box, but I'll add it here for posterity: Probably the closest we'll get to Trek on TV this year.

It looks sooo bad as with everything Seth does or thinks. Galaxy Quest forevah!
It doesn't look that bad, lol. The idea of having an ex-wife as the XO got me laughing.

Seth MacFarlane is actually a huge Star Trek fan, he was in several ENT episodes. Unlike a past director of a few Star Trek movies that is more of a Star Wars fan. Besides, this isn't an attempt to copy Galaxy Quest, if anything it looks more like a run at the newer Trek movies and TNG.

Wasn't speaking of his experience. I simply do not like anything that man does. Don't find it funny, is all.
I admit, I can't too much of his stuff, IE repetitve jokes in Family Guy. But I did laugh several times at them, will have to give it a looksie.
Yeah I don't like most of what Seth MacFarlane does, though the first season of American Dad was fun. Still, I'll probably at least give the first ep a once over.
Oh goodness this looks funny! I'd be pretty okay watching this.
I didn't laugh at the trailer once...but.

I also thought A Million Ways to Die in the West was going to be terrible and I laughed my ass off throughout most of it.

So...I'm looking forward to at least give it a go.
Like a lot of the other commenters, I'm not a huge fan of Seth Macfarlane's work, but I'm willing to give this a fair shake. Maybe it will surprise me.
Jon Favreau is great. I'm a tad bit more sceptical about Macfarlane.
I liked Family Guy when it was new, but the stuff that's come out recently hasn't amused me as well for a while. However, I will say his parodies of the original Star Wars trilogy was hilarious and if he can do well with simething like Star Wars, then I trust him even more to do well with something he loves like Star Trek. I'm looking forward to this.

On the subject of McFarlane's shows and them not being as good lately as some have said. It is worth nothing, Seth himself was only on the writing teams of those shows in the first few years each. He does a lot of stuff and isn't actively running each show that closely anymore. He is mostly just an executive producer after a while. This is what allows him to focus on other projects like Million Ways, Ted, new things like Orville, etc.

So don't judge him too harshly just because some of his previous stuff has declined a bit. I don't watch any of those shows anymore either despite liking them a lot once, but I know I enjoy Seth's style of comedy. Plus I know he is a massive Trekkie and will surely through a lot of humor related to that in here, likely poking fun at all the little things all of us notice in Trek that often many are afraid to point out cause it breaks the story. Works for comedy though.

I'm looking forward to this, it looks neat.

I think I will give a possibility to this one. I appreciated some of McFarlane's works, like Family Guy and American Dad and I consider them great in their category. So, I'm willing to see this show :d
Maybe it will be real funny!
I'll reserve judgment till I see it.....And I'm sure I'm going to. I had to give 'A Million ways to die in the West' a fair chance and wasn't....too disappointed. Its also not a show I'd watch often either.

So bring on the facepalming.

Actually Braga is part of the show...
I thought it was funny. And this has me more excited than the trailer for the other show.
I chuckled a bit. I'll check it out. I have to admit, what sold me on checking it out was the captain running through the little gelatin(?) alien. Don't know why, but for some reason that turned me on to the show.
