The USS Leopard (NCC-97122) is a Federation Aquarius-class starship operated by Starfleet.
Service History
Construction and Majestic Service History
Launched in July 2422 following delays caused by modifications to the hull plating, giving it a darker apperance and the fitting of a Federation standard cloaking device, the U.S.S. Leopard was immediately assigned to the U.S.S. Majestic (Now the U.S.S. Defender), replacing the destroyed Aquarius Class U.S.S. Daring lost during the a battle with a Caitian lead PMC. The Leopard followed the line of updates to the Aquarius class, receiving minor updates to onboard sensor suites as well as a limited number of improved armaments (namely updated phaser arrays more in-line with current fleet wide standards).
The vessel received a rather small, inconspicuous christening with the aim of having the Leopard deployed with the Majestic whilst she was in port. The ship was put through her shake down cruise by Captain James Kamara of the Starfleet Corp of Engineers, with the Majestic following the Leopard on her shakedown, before the escort was docked following a successful cruise, and following returning the testing Captain back to the yard, was given it's first real test as part of patrol operations in the Khitomer sector, as part of Alliance security operations.
The Leopard also took part of displays as part of Operation Homefront with it's mother ship the U.S.S. Majestic, with the ships being assigned to the operation in Janurary of 2423 where it would often lead flight displays, along with fighters from the Majestic's on-board fighter wing, this was carried out using staff from the Majestic herself who where currently on rotation between display duties and talking to guests.
The leopard was then used in combat for the first real time as part of anti-borg patrols which the Majestic was assigned to in June of 2423, where with the Leopard, the Majestic once again took the lead ship role with Task Force Mars, making up a rapid response group that could easily be deployed to trouble-spots as required, the Leopard remained on patrol with the U.S.S. Majestic until December of 2423, when both ships where brought into dry dock for a extended inspection, resupply and refit as needed.
Reassignment to the 38th Fleet
Following this extended time in dry dock, which included the removal of the cloaking device on U.S.S. Leopard, it was decided that with the destruction of the U.S.S. Defender, the Majestic would be rechristened the U.S.S. Defender NCC-93136-A and after clearing other modifications with ‘Argo’ command, was to be transferred to the command of Captain H’Ltol, Sh’ow, the previous Defender Captain. The Leopard would also follow the newly christened U.S.S. Defender NCC-93136-A, itself retaining it’s current name and registry.
The Ship and crew take part in the mission AAR: Here, Kitty Kitty in an attempt to find and recover the ships missing commanding officer, Captain H’Ltol Sh’ow, after locating the base on which the crew believed the Captain was held on, the crew began enhanced monitoring and observations of the base, from a location just behind the moon in the Kern system.
Following nearly a month of observation the U.S.S. Defender came under attack from the hostile group Black Claw, with their forces made up of one Aspero class carrier, two Caitian Shikaris Escorts and two Ferasan Slithus Escort it wasn’t until the assault was already underway that ships of the 38th arrived for the planned AAR: Operation Pounce in which the ships where supposed to attack the hostile base of operations and recover Captain Sh’ow, following a tough battle, the Defender remains behind in the Kern System to handle clean up operations, whilst the U.S.S. Leopard proceeded to assist in further operations, with the U.S.S. Leopard helping deploy a security team to recover Captain H, Sh’ow. The officers of the Leopard then returning to the Defender before both ships returned to DS-13.
On their return to DS-13, the ship with the U.S.S. Defender, began ship wide scramble and readiness drills, both to not be caught off guard like this again but to also be ready for the return of their Captain to the command chair.

Auxiliary and Crew Support Measures
Alterations to the exterior of the vessel were carried out to match the hull plating appearance of the at the time U.S.S. Majestic. The vessel has no permanent senior staff assigned to it. In the event of an emergency or Red Alert situation, select Bridge Officers (either on duty or not) are selected to take operational Command with an appropriate selection of tactical and engineering crewmen at any given notice; this is assisted by the small short range transporter system connected between both the main-bridge of the U.S.S. Defender and the escort's three-man transporter system. Additionally however, during direct assignment issued from the Starship Commanding Officer, crewmen from the U.S.S. Defender may be transferred to the vessel on a temporary basis until completion of said assignment.
The vessel has moderate sleeping quarters, suitable for housing up to 40 officers and enlisted alike, with senior officers receiving two dedicated quarters to share.
While lightly armored, the vessel does boast an impressively powerful compliment of weaponry in the form of it’s primary Quad-Cannons. Featuring several variable-load torpedo tubes that can easily be modified to take class 1, 2 and 3 probes should the situation call for it. Scientific facilities aboard the vessel are on par with those found on smaller, escort type vessels. Sensors have a maximum distance of around 15 Light Years. The U.S.S. Leopard is designed to operate fully independently from it’s mothership, having facilities such as a small mess hall along with a small gymnasium aboard for crew recreation. The U.S.S. Leopard hosts a single Type-10 shuttle pod for auxiliary usage.
The U.S.S. Leopard is often reserved for specific assignment or emergency situations. Concerning the former, requests can be made to the Starship Commanding Officer on a case-by-case basis until a request is considered appropriate. In most instances, shuttles are considered a natural alternative.
