The USS Shrewsbury II (NCC-90197-A) was a Federation Aquarius-class starship operated by Starfleet.
History
Launched in mid-2415 the U.S.S. Shrewsbury (II) was immediately assigned to the newly refit U.S.S. October, coinciding with the larger vessel's own relaunch, replacing the destroyed Aquarius Class U.S.S. Shrewsbury lost during the Battle at Midnight. The Shrewsbury followed the line of updates to the Aquarius class, receiving minor updates to onboard sensor suites as well as a limited number of improved armaments (namely updated phaser arrays more in-line with current fleet wide standards).
Naming the vessel was ceremoniously put to a vote by the Starfleet Engineering Corps as a token of lives lost aboard the original vessel with its destruction, with over 79% of the current U.S.S. October's crew compliment approving a second Shrewsbury.
The vessel received a rather small, inconspicuous christening tied in within victory/memorial proceedings, which then led to its immediate active assignment. Captain zh'Aeregon was initially tasked with a shakedown cruise, however due to delays with the already overburdened shipyards this task was passed forward into active assignment notes thanks to the calming in hostilities across the starmap.
In mid 2422 the Shrewsbury was assigned along with her mothership to Tri’Vokil space following engagement with Romulan Star Empire forces. Notably the Shrewsbury, crewed by Executive Officer Commander Kara Blake and Chief Tactical Officer Ruke Warner, entered the suspected Star Empire staging grounds within the Valdore Nebula. While her stay was short, the vessel was able to intercept an encrypted communication transmitted to Rator III, along with the detection of a large hostile fleet operating around an ancient starbase facility- leading to the formation of a Starfleet 38th Fleet's taskforce in defense of the Tri'Vokil system.
Following Captain Coby Morton's reassignment to the 38th Fleet's adjutant officer, command of the October and by default the Shrewsbury was transferred to Commander Kara Blake pending the assignment of a new permanent Commanding Officer.

Auxiliary and Crew Support Measures
Alterations to the exterior of the vessel were planned, however changes were soon dropped in favour of a complete standard rebuild with completion of the U.S.S. October's refit nearing conclusion. The vessel has no permanent senior staff assigned to it. In the event of an emergency or Red Alert situation, select Bridge Officers (either on duty or not) are selected to take operational Command with an appropriate selection of tactical and engineering crewmen at any given notice; this is assisted by the small short range transporter system connected between both the main-bridge of the U.S.S. October and the escort's three-man transporter system. Additionally however, during direct assignment issued from the Starship Commanding Officer, crewmen from the U.S.S. October may be transferred to the vessel on a temporary basis until completion of said assignment.
The vessel has moderate sleeping quarters, suitable for housing up to 40 officers and enlisted alike, with senior officers receiving two dedicated quarters to share.
While lightly armoured, the vessel does boast an impressively powerful compliment of weaponry in the form of it’s primary Quad-Cannons. Featuring several variable-load torpedo tubes that can easily be modified to take class 1, 2 and 3 probes should the situation call for it. Scientific facilities aboard the vessel are on par with those found on smaller, escort type vessels. Sensors have a maximum distance of around 15 Light Years. The U.S.S. Shrewsbury is designed to operate fully independently from it’s mothership, having facilities such as a small mess hall along with a small gymnasium aboard for crew recreation. The U.S.S. Shrewsbury hosts a single Type-10 shuttle pod for auxiliary usage.
The U.S.S. Shrewsbury is often reserved for specific assignment or emergency situations. Concerning the former, requests can be made to the Starship Commanding Officer on a case-by-case basis until a request is considered appropriate. In most instances, shuttles are considered a natural alternative.
