Subj: U.S.S. Mariner Maintenance Task List

Under the orders of Admiral Bishop, the U.S.S. Mariner has been temporarily remanded to dry dock to address a mission critical design flaw in the ship's power grid that prevents its sensor systems from operating effectively while its phaser arrays are armed. This process is going to involve partially or completely dismantling decks 6 through 16 within the spaceframe. Officers with grade 3 or greater certification in starship systems maintenance are authorized to join work details voluntarily. To request placement in a work detail, please notify your superior officer to requisition your assignment.

Schematics will be provided as needed, however, be advised that certain systems are redacted from these documents. Caelian-class starship design incorporates military technologies that are still classified for the purposes of Federation security. Only officers stationed on the Mariner and station personnel with level 7 or higher security clearance are authorized to view this data. Any personnel caught attempting to breach or facilitating the breach of this security clearance will be remanded to station security and the Judge Advocate General’s office for disciplinary action.

The estimated time to complete this extended maintenance is 90 days. Due to the extent of the work being completed, 104 of the 432 personnel aboard the Mariner will be temporarily reassigned to quarters aboard Deep Space 13. Mariner staff, please see the station quartermaster for details and bunk assignments.

PRE-MAINTENANCE TASK LIST

  • Medical: Transfer current medical records for all personnel to Deep Space 13.
  • Medical: Transfer all patients receiving immediate or ongoing care to Deep Space 13.
  • Medical: Transfer all current live culture experiments to secured storage in stasis.
  • Science: Cease long-range astrometric scans and catalogue sensor data.
  • Science: Cease all computer modeling studies.
  • Engineering: Flush electro-plasma distribution network for disassembly.
  • Engineering: Flush and degauss warp core to prevent accidental energy discharge.
  • Station Quartermaster: Complete movement of Mariner personnel to temporary accommodations within 48 hours.

MAINTENANCE TASK LIST

  • Disconnect warp core power transfer conduits from main power grid.
  • Disconnect phaser arrays from power grid.
  • Disconnect MIDAS sensor pallets from power grid.
  • Demolition of decks 10 through 16.
  • Demolition of outer sections of decks 6 through 9.
  • Installation of new primary EPS feed line.
  • Installation of secondary feed lines to auxiliary fusion reactors.
  • Installation of new EPS heatsinks.
  • Reconnect phaser arrays to main power grid.
  • Reconnect MIDAS sensor arrays to main power grid.
  • Reconnect warp core power transfer conduits to main power grid.
  • Internal reconstruction of decks 6 through 16.

It is imperative that the maintenance tasks are completed in the order listed to avoid any conflicts that could cause delays. If there are any questions, please speak with Lieutenant Commander Zital or station first officer Lieutenant Commander Khet.

Commander Zital!
I have been recently transferred from USS Cassini to USS Mariner. During my time onboard Cassini and Deep Space 13 before that, my duties involved general optimisations of computer systems for particular tasks they would be assigned, as well as working on sensor data acquisition and analysis.

Although the two tasks (long-range astrometric scans and computer modelling studies) I would volunteer for are currently assigned under Sciences, I believe I have enough general expertise to coordinate their execution.

In the case of computer modelling studies, I believe we can develop a data transfer protocol between Mariner and a dedicated computer system on Deep Space 13 which would allow the authors of those studies to continue their work onboard the station, assuming we have their approval and that the data in question are not sensitive in any sense. If no approval is given, I can supervise the temporary cessation of the studies.

The proposal for cataloguing of sensor data is similar one, though it may require a slightly modified transfer protocol.

Internal demolition within the spaceframe has begun. Naturally, this has created a variable pressure environment in areas without life support or gravity plating, which means this is going to be slow, careful work from here on out. So far, we have not experienced any major interruptions, but four crew members have reported minor injuries incurred due to improperly secured supply crates. Logistics personnel on the Mariner and Deep Space 13 should be reminded not to rush. Mistakes can result in injuries to our colleagues and cause us to miss our deadline.

Thanks to the efforts of volunteers from the Mariner’s engineering teams pulling double shifts, we are now officially a week ahead of schedule and over 66% of the way to completing the power grid refit. No reports of injuries since the last progress update, as of writing. Three days of rest have been ordered to allow everyone to reset their sleep schedules, after which we will be resuming work as planned.

We are now in the final stretch, with the refit 90% completed as of writing. Internal reconstruction efforts have begun, however, the addition of civilian personnel to staff the onboard restaurant and new access to mental health services on board have resulted in a modification of floor plans to allow for additional quarters and office space. This should only incur a delay of two to three days, putting us right back on our original schedule.
