Ship Name: U.S.S. October
SF38_DCK-MSTR-LOG_DS13_90197AOCTOBER
Organizer: @lobstertan
SF38_CPT_RM-429-7592_WGL//ASSGN:2418
Recruiting Status: By Request ((Extreme Combadge Vetting Applies))
Typical RP Type: Social / Free-Form / Structured
Event Schedule: Social Weekly RP / Random Planned Events
Additional Requirements: There are no real requirements to joining the crew of the October, all are welcome! I'd state semi-closed as I simply don't want players to enter with false understandings and expectations, but hopefully y'all know how I roll by now. So would prefer interested folk to just give me a shout! That said, there's the understanding that I will not always want the vessel involved in a certain plot, and/or am not fully comfortable with excessive timewarping! This is usually never the case, but just putting up as a disclaimer. Also! ... not a requirement, but it should be noted that due to my love for it, all October personnel ICly wear the combadge first seen in the TNG Future, All Good Things. Fite me!
RP Details / Restrictions:
How often does the ship visit the starbase?: Frequently - the starship is often docked or in orbit of Deep Space 13 and crew members will almost always have the ability to transport aboard the station - the only exceptions are external restriction put in place by fleet staff, plot, or the starbase command.
Non-ship RP allowed while ship is not in port: Yes, with IC excuse / Yes, with mild timewarping - the starship will occasionally be assigned away from the station. This either being by specific plot or to allow for generic-patrol. Regardless, through the magic of shuttles, the 'Shrewsbury, and minor time warping players should feel free to find any excuse to RP on the station should they desire it.
Players allowed to use ship without Captain online: Yes, for on ship RP - with some limitations, just the basics like... let me know if you want to cause damage, or destroy the ship! And if you really want to, I'm sure I'll lend a hand. Shuttles are fully available at any time, with the 'Shrewsbury available for use in fleet events or as an NPC should the Captain not be online at the time.

Spoiler: Coby's Little Notes~Show
NOT TO PUT YOU OFF
Hey there, thanks for checking out the October! This ship might be for you if you have an alt-alt without a posting, and prefer a vessel assignment rather than the station. I won't be running events every week, but I'm always game for social RP, random patrol banter, lounge, bridge, whatever RP. A large focus would be taking part in other scheduled events, having the ability to RP the October's responses and actions accordingly from our own bridge (so long as the event style permits). Coby's my main, and I am often around the station for casual RP.
If you're looking for a fantastically run, weekly planned starship crew, this isn't it sorry! But there are fantastic alternatives within each player crew on this list.
The October has never been a player crew before. There have been other player characters assigned to ship, but these assignments were only ever temporary. I came up with the courage to offer player positions aftereveryone's favourite member of staff a friend asked for a posting aboard for one of their characters. I understand it's unlikely any of you will wish to apply, and don't worry! I'm not expecting anyone to, however if anyone has a character they would like to take up a senior posting so it'd look good on their dossier, even if it's just temporary while one of my NPC bridge officers take leave, feel free because I'll certainly dedicate my efforts to you in exactly the same way.
You won't be expected to GM any events, but I'd certainly appreciate it if you followed the same rules that'd you follow as a standard Argo member in the first place! I'm very open to multiple styles of RP, and will cater to literally anyone and anything you'd like to try. I know one of my biggest, favourite things about this fleet has been learning and playing through different interpretations of Role Play. If you're thinking about joining up, I'd love nothing more than for our characters to become besties, Coby's certainly always been a very lax Captain, however this takes time. I'd adore the opportunity to build some natural, lasting friendships across the board.
The October's NPC crew has, for the most part, been with the ship since the very beginning. The first officer slot and immediate chain of Command has slowly evolved, as I like to keep a natural flow going with promotions, however the NPC's that remain I'm... willing to finally let go, and set them free to their next voyage under new Commands. The Counselor position I've filled as I have always thought an NPC counselor allows all users of the vessel to portray a conversation (such as in a log) however they desire. While that could be achieved to great affect with live RP, I believe the openness of the NPC means players don't have to rely on getting in game if they're unable to do so, yet want to post a short story of some kind.
There are Four Department Head Positions available currently, in which characters will be replacing the NPC staff - while there are a reasonable amount of standard crew positions. I'm not expecting a compliment of 2500 any time soon, so multiples of one division are perfectly fine with me. The vessel has an exceptionally large compliment, and as a flagship-type cruiser hosts one of the widest ranges in departmental staffing. Ranging from senior officers, junior officers straight through to Enlisted and Senior Enlisted personnel.
If for some reason you're still interested, please take a look at the vessels ship-records page. There's a link at the top of the page under its registry!
GIVE HER ALL SHE'S GOT
The October is a massive, slow tank. She's got all the curves in all the right places, and needs to be treated appropriately. She has thick armour, powerful weaponry and highly-tuned sensors; but she doesn't have plot physics. Regardless of the size or class of her opponent, the right shot in the right place can easily cripple her. I always favour fun, but part of my fun is the realism. Not to a heavy extent, but the October against a squadron of BoP's, she's still going to take a beating even if she comes out on top.
Launched in late 2407 under a different name the October started life as an Odyssey class star cruiser, Block 1A, with innate abilities such as chevron(saucer) separation common throughout Starfleet vessels. Unique to the class, she features the built-in Aquarius class parasite escort, registered as the U.S.S. Shrewsbury. This small escort can operate autonomously from the mothership and be used for planetary landing should the need arise. As well as this, the vessel carries a considerably heavy shuttle compliment to facilitate away missions, colony transfer and scientific study. Unlike her predecessor, she houses no specific-built fighter craft.
The vessel, while originally quite reasonably armed to begin with, received an early refit following the cease fire at the end of the Iconian war. The vessel took on numerous upgrades to both defensive systems and its scientific facilities alike and is exceptionally capable of sustaining herself on extended assignment. While not an exact match on the likes of the tactical-system based Endeavour Subclass, the October is no stranger to putting up her fists.
If we treat her like a lady, she'll always bring us home.
I'M A DOCTOR, NOT A TORPEDO TECHNICIAN
Combat is great fun, and regardless of all those lovely~ morals, Starfleet has to throw a punch every now and again. There's a variety of different ways to roleplay combat, damage, and death! And I am open to everything, as long as whatever we're doing is fun for you! That's the whole point of this. But, on the reverse side, if there's ever anything you're un-comfortable with, please give me the biggest shout in the world and I'll do everything to fix it. The idea here is for a character, and their background, to evolve naturally in situations that aren't over the top, nor too boring.
Something to make super clear, crew aboard the October are more than welcome to tag along on any STARBASE, OTHER SHIP, ETC, events as they wish. As I mentioned above, timewarping isn't my favourite thing to do, but we all have to fit in somewhere! As an example, should the October be away from the station for 7 days - I personally am unlikely to bring any ship-bound characters to any other events that don't include the ship being present there. If your character's aboard, you'd be away for those 7 days too! BUT! With time warping, we can wave a hand and pretend the event happens (in head canon) after or before the fact - if you really want that particular character at an event.
That's the reason I say this ship is a bit of an Alt dump, is for that sort of reason. So you should have your favourite main character available for cool events! And then you can leave your alt off screen on the October, should it need be, without much hassle. BUT AGAIN, I stress I'm totally okay with time warping as long as it's not super intrusive.
We're a living, breathing crew! And I hope we can all get along... or, maybe if you want that little bit of spice, we can throw some spanners in the works here and there! But I'll leave that up to you. If any of this still makes you want to join up and tag along with the voyages of the USS Space Whale, please send me a message or just poke me in-game. I'd love to hear from anyone even remotely interested, and make anything and everything work for you.

In Star Trek Online, we're graced with a number of locations to roleplay in. Space stations, starship interiors, the foundry, different planets! And they look amazing, add to the roleplay, and generally set the scene. Below are a number of interpretations by me on the interior of the October, or atleast a general idea of the sort of shapes. With no official Odyssey interior aside from the awesome (if comically large) bridge, I've take the opportunity use multiple bridges, and locations, for RP settings.
The Odyssey bridge as the Main Bridge, the Origin bridge for the Battle Bridge ... The Galaxy Class' holodeck ... Earth Space Dock for the October's premium lounge ... with a variety of other personal bridges for bedrooms, mess halls and engineering ... and the like! Whatever! My point is, not everyone has access to everything, these are mere suggestions and guides. You feel free to use any and all interiors (s'long as they're Federation) to role play the interior of the ship. It's a massive boat, surely it's full of different size rooms and styles in some sections.
