MISSION Tour an archaeological site on the planet.
OUTCOME Contact made with an unknown hostile species from the archaeological ruins.

NARRATIVE The away team was given a tour of the archaeological ruins located on the planet. During the tour of the ruins, the away team encountered dead researchers, who had been killed by asphyxiation. Sounds of chanting could be heard in the ruins and the away team exited the ruins to see the archaeological camp destroyed. Security footage from the camp showed embalmed creatures rush out of the ruins to kill the inhabitants of the camp.
After returning to the U.S.S. Endeavour, MACO Team 32 was deployed in order to secure any surviving researchers, but the team was later called off as it was clear that there were no surviving researchers.
The bridge received a hail from one of the creatures, indicating that we would face “retribution” for disturbing the rest of the creatures.
After making sure there were no survivors left on the planet, the ship deployed warning buoys to steer ships away from the system.
RECOMMENDATION Continous monitoring of the system will be needed. As these creatures can somehow communicate, it may be possible for a diplomatic solution to be reached.
A review of the safety processes on the archaeological dig should incur.
RECOGNITION ENS Izly was of great assistance to efforts in stabilising the wounds of one of the researchers. They are to be commended for this action.
