LOCATION Lopethi VII Colony, Lopethi System.

MISSION Respond to a distress call.

OUTCOME Colony destroyed by unknown entities.

BACKGROUND Upon meeting the U.S.S. Baton Rouge and the U.S.S. Dragon on patrol, the trio of ships received a distress call from a colony on the Federation border. Originally fearing a Klingon attack, we move to yellow alert and warped to the system.

NARRATIVE It became apparent that the Klingons were not the cause of the distress. A failed science experiment had created a humanitarian crisis on the planet, though there was evidence of a Klingon build-up on the border, no doubt in response to the distress call. Groups from the three ships were deployed to help the colony, whilst the U.S.S. Baton Rouge and the U.S.S. Dragon moved to the Klingon border to prevent any Klingons from trying to take advantage of the stricken colony.

Approximately three hours into our assistance, a strange, translucent shape appeared in the sky, causing power fluctuations. Small translucent beings detached from this shape and began to attack the colony, in a manner similar to the Crystalline Entity. With no way to communicate our ships, the above officers took refuge in a shelter with some natives. After the attack had past, we emerged to see the planet devastated by the attacks.

After evacuating the remaining survivors, the ships departed the system.

RECOMMENDATION A detailed investigation of these creatures should take place, especially since there is evidence that these same creatures have attacked other systems in the past (see here and here.)

RECOGNITION All officers performed well during this mission. The two captains assisted various local forces to aid the humanitarian crisis, whilst LT Shea singlehandedly uncovered the root cause of the crisis. LT Niraj is also to be commended for her work on the U.S.S. Endeavour to ensure resources were sent to the correct area.
