OVERVIEW
Having recently branched out from it's roots as a courier service, Bastet Commercial Enterprises has established itself as an emerging hospitality company in charge of the premier social venue of the Federation starbase Deep Space 13. Utilizing their courier network to ensure a steady supply of rare and exotic fare, the small operation has flourished in its new market. While ostensibly independent, Bastet operates within the greater Sh'Vara Mercantile Guild, an association of traders operating out of the famed Sh'Vara Waystation at the far edge of the PX-438 system.
HISTORY
Individual, independent courier services have been a fixture of frontier trading, but only recently have they returned to Federation space en mass. Founded in 2406, Bastet has managed to carve out a niche servicing small-payload freight runs and chartered passenger flights for those unwilling or unable to do business with larger firms. With it's 2415 acquisition of DS-13's Starlight Cantina, currently the Event Horizon Lounge, Bastet Commercial Enterprises has expanded it's operations into the more stable hospitality and entertainment markets.

A relatively new multibranch corporation, Bastet operates it's Entertainment and Transport divisions in relatively isolated teams, overseen by owner and CEO Sii'Yasha Yira. While some see this measure as a means to reduce liability, it has allowed both units to function largely autonomously, with the Event Horizon Lounge going so far as to place formal orders with it's sister courier. It has also allowed the transport wing to bill its seasonal vacation cruises with the familiar brand of the stations Lounge, though direct advertisement within the Lounge itself are surprisingly sparse.
Sii'Yasha's home port, the Sh'Vara Trade outpost, has operated in one form or another since the dawn of warp flight. The station is home to a number of so-called 'trade clans', families of long-time spacers who make up a sizeable portion of the independent traders of the Alpha and Beta quadrants. Any given Sh'Vara trader likely comes from generations of merchants.
