ARC (Argo Relay Chat) was developed years ago as a simple realtime communications protocol for coordination within Task Force Argo, but it was largely abandoned when Starfleet deployed ShipChat (which itself was later supplanted by Sleet). However, the protocol is still resident on 38th Fleet systems and remains a lightweight and reliable alternative to its overengineered modern counterparts. The DS13 Operations Department still runs an ARC server to this day, which it uses to trade favors, barbs and cat graphics. If the brass only knew...
