Admiral,
Following studies of the deceased insect that is currently housed on the Defender, I am requesting permission to attempt to capture a live specimen.
This is to help with the aim of further study and understanding of the insects to help with any future removal efforts.
Thanks to the help of LT, Greene, Rhea and LT, Reyes, Miriam, a pheromone was created which should assist in this effort.
With your permission I will ask for voluntaries, who would be willing to help with such an attempt, I have attached the AAR of the studying that was done for your review if needed.

Admiral,
Following the recent attempt at removing the insects from the old station the Defender is currently stationed at, I have recommendations below based on the AAR which was filled out by MAJ Valencia, G. who’s help as been very appreciated during this.
Recommendation one: As the Major recommends in the AAR, we leave the bugs where they are. We leave a series of Warning buoys around the station to alert anyone that comes close, to what they will encounter if they risk boarding the station, and studies of the crystal are carried out using the one that was found by the U.S.S. Endeavour.
Recommendation Two: If yourself or scientists have good reasons for wanting the station clear, we can carry out a sweep and kill operation, removing the bugs using a more hardline and permanent option. This however would take time, and likely lead to more injuries and risk to our officers, as even if a chemical was deployed to attempt to terminate the insects, a manual check and search would still need to be performed, meaning that should any insects remain alive they would need to be terminated by officers on the station.
I would only advise option two if there is a good reason for the risk that would be encountered, due to how hostile the bugs and crystal itself seem to be to our attempts to remove them, with no risk posed by placing warnings and leaving the bugs in place.
Recommendation one is what I personal favor, as this would also free up the Defender and myself to assist in operations with the Azedi, which I feel would be a better use of myself and my crew.
I will remain near the station with the Defender and wait for further orders Admiral.

Captain,
Whilst I acknowledge and respect your recommendations, it is imperative that we secure access to the information housed within the station. Should this prove unattainable while the insects remain alive, I regret to say their removal will become a necessity.
As I deliberate on the appropriate course of action, you are hereby authorised to redeploy in support of Azedi operations. A vessel will be dispatched forthwith to relieve you of your current mission.

Admiral,
Understood I will redeploy the Defender once the relief vessel arrives.
And whilst I appreciate the need for the information housed in the station, unless you plan on calling in a Ferasan marine assault team, I really do hope the information is worth it.

Objection raised by Captain Tyrstoc to removal and/or extermination is logical. Though Prime Directive implications are unlikely, general conduct standards with regard to intelligent life may apply.
Arrange scientific study to assess nature and sentience of lifeform before proceeding with original plans.

Captain,
Please familiarise yourself with the attached reports, and then make your way to the Kelt Region, where you will relieve Captain Sh’ow and the U.S.S. Defender. I will need you to study these insects further to assess the nature and sentience of the insects. To this end, I am also assigning Lieutenant Naderi Vehl to the U.S.S. Reyga.
Major Valencia will remain assigned to the mission for assistance if needed.
